MAJOR DUTIES: 

The Senior Application Engineer is responsible for assisting customers and representatives in applying and selling product lines.

  • Filters and/or responds to all Customer and Sales Representatives' inquiries.
  • Determines the making /process feasibility of all modified or new systems and products.
  • Meets with customers to discuss, refine and offer other product and enhancements / alternatives.
  • Formulates and creates descriptive line-item quotations based on standard unit costs.
  • Creates timeline schedule and final revised detailed quotation.
  • Defines all of the product detailed specifications once an order is imminent.
  • Meets with the engineering project group to transfer the project once a sale is complete.
  • Creates quotes, manages and coordinates customer's quotes and orders.
  • Facilitates, manages or drives to completion with the appropriate internal departments special product orders.
  • Train and assist other Application Engineers.
     

Typical Duties Include

  •  Bid preparation
  •  Customer interface regarding technical issues, quality and scheduling
  •  Liaison between customer and internal resources
  •  Perform technical reviews of request for proposals
  •  Obtain cost estimates
  •  Generate commercial and technical proposals
  •  Work directly with management from manufacturing, purchasing, quality, and engineering to determine timelines.
  •  Create project reports for management review.
  •  Provide training and technical presentations for internal and external salespeople.
  •  Assist in preparation of marketing and technical documents.
  •  Develop strong internal relationships with Product Managers, Application Engineers and outside sales force.
     

What will help you thrive in this role?

  • Requires education of Bachelor's Degree in an engineering discipline.
  • Requires 5-8 years of relevant application and technical sales experience.
  • Requires mathematical skills that require the ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide, and to make metric system conversions.
  • Must have the ability to read and understand blueprints, electrical schematics, installation manuals, routings and other manufacturing instructions.
  • Requires a working knowledge of ERP systems.
     

Some travel maybe required (20%) as technical support for the field sales engineers and/or support other locations.
