Job description

As a member of the Information Services Department, the Senior Applications Developer plays a critical role in the full web development lifecycle—from requirements gathering to deployment and ongoing maintenance. This position is responsible for designing and developing scalable, secure applications using modern technologies, troubleshooting server-side issues, and collaborating closely with stakeholders to deliver efficient and high-quality solutions.

This position will operate on east coast hours:
Eastern Time (ET): 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Central Time (CT): 7:00 AM – 4:00 PM
Mountain Time (MT): 6:00 AM – 3:00 PM
Pacific Time (PT): 5:00 AM – 2:00 PM

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Design, develop, test, and maintain web-based applications and APIs using modern frameworks and best practices
  • Architect and implement cloud-native solutions utilizing platforms such as Microsoft Azure
  • Integrate AI/ML capabilities (e.g., predictive models, NLP, automation) into enterprise applications
  • Ensure application performance, scalability, security, and reliability
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including peers and business stakeholders
  • Participate in DevOps practices, including CI/CD pipelines and automated deployments
  • Perform code reviews, unit testing, and integration testing to ensure quality and stability
  • Lead and support deployment of applications across development, staging, and production environments
  • Troubleshoot and resolve server-related issues (performance, connectivity, configuration)
  • Write and optimize SQL queries; ensure database performance and reliability
  • Maintain clear and accurate documentation for code, systems, and processes
  • Optimize applications for performance and cross-browser compatibility
  • Stay current with emerging technologies and industry trends, particularly in web, cloud, and AI

ADDITIONAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Assist with system and user acceptance testing as needed.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to team members.
  • Additional Duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS (EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES):

Education:    

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field required. A combination of education and experience and will be considered in lieu of a degree.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in web application development
  • Strong experience with server-side development (e.g., C#, .NET)
  • Experience with web server management and application deployment
  • Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments preferred
  • Experience integrating APIs and third-party services preferred

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

  • Strong proficiency in web technologies (JavaScript, HTML, CSS, React, Angular, or similar)
  • Solid backend development experience (.NET, Java, Node.js, or Python)
  • Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (Azure preferred; AWS or GCP acceptable)
  • Experience building and consuming RESTful APIs and microservices
  • Familiarity with AI/ML tools or services (e.g., Azure AI, OpenAI APIs)
  • Strong experience with SQL databases
  • Knowledge of DevOps tools and practices (CI/CD pipelines, Git)
  • Understanding of application security best practices preferred
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
  • High attention to detail and commitment to quality
  • Demonstrated interest in emerging technologies, particularly AI

WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

This job operates in a clerical, office setting. This role routinely involves the use of standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

The salary ranges for this position apply to the respective listed locations. The salary range reflects a variety of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions, including but not limited to experience, education, licensure and/or certifications, geographic location, market demands and other business and organizational needs. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for a position. Reasonable estimates of the current ranges for this position are:

  • Las Vegas: $115,000 - $125,000
  • Chicago, Minneapolis, and Atlantic City: $135,000 - $140,000
  • Boston, Washington D.C., Denver, Los Angeles, Seattle, Morristown, Princeton: $142,000 - $152,000
  • New York and San Francisco: $155,000 - $165,000

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
