Job Summary:
AQR Capital Management is a global investment firm that combines financial theory with practical application to achieve long-term results. They are seeking an Application Support Engineer to support technical systems and processes, resolve production issues, and contribute to strategic projects aimed at improving organizational efficiency and system reliability.
Responsibilities:
โ€ข Develop and maintain in-depth knowledge of AQRโ€™s Applications products to support customers.
โ€ข Manage usersโ€™ expectations to ensure satisfaction with AQR and our products
โ€ข Ensure that every user is treated professionally and with respect
โ€ข Act as a user advocate to Project Management and Development
โ€ข Effectively interact with Quality Assurance to report bugs identified by customers.
โ€ข Ensure proper escalation occurs for unresolved issues to ensure the customer remains satisfied
โ€ข Gain and maintain current knowledge of AQRs Support Policies and Procedures
โ€ข Participate in on-call production support rotations โ€“ some of which may be off hours.
โ€ข Identify/update missing prod-support processes and author new processes with the assistance of dev/business-teams using a support wikis.
โ€ข Diagnose missing-inputs issues. This may require analyzing stack-traces, system-logs, stepping through code in a debugger etc. to find the offending query/web-service call.
โ€ข Diagnose resource issues (e.g., database down/slow, etc.).  This would require learning our deployment architecture, alerting/monitoring tools, etc.
โ€ข Diagnose complex system issues and work across teams to solve them quickly.
โ€ข Reason through technical issues using an array of technical skills including log analysis, systems performance analysis, stack-trace diagnosis, database analysis, reproduction of problems, and software debugging.
โ€ข Manage communication with stakeholders and across teams.
โ€ข Contribute to our systems and process documentation.
โ€ข Understand and document root-causes of problems and collaborate across teams to deliver improvements.
โ€ข Work on strategic projects to improve our over process and system reliability.
Qualifications:
Required:
โ€ข Bachelorโ€™s Degree โ€“ Engineering or Computer Science preferred โ€“ or equivalent experience.
โ€ข Two yearsโ€™ experience working with both business user and technical teams supporting complex software systems in the financial industry.
โ€ข Hands-on technical abilities including SQL and programming/debugging โ€“ Python preferred.
โ€ข Strong technical communications abilities โ€“ both written and verbal.
โ€ข Ability to work effectively both independently and in a small team environment.
โ€ข A passion for learning technology and using it to automate manual work and improve system reliability.
โ€ข Cool under pressure and always responsible, mature, and trustworthy.
