Director of Information Technology

Albany, OR, US

Director of Information Technology - this role will be responsible for both our Tualatin, OR and Albany, OR locations

The Director of Information Technology (IT), SEMI provides strategic and operational leadership over all technology functions within a multi‑site manufacturing organization serving the semiconductor industry. This role is responsible for developing and executing an IT vision that enhances productivity, quality, and decision‑making across the Semiconductor business unit and aligned with the broader Precinmac organization.

The Director leads infrastructure, cybersecurity, enterprise applications, data management, analytics, and digital transformation initiatives for the SEMI business unit, ensuring technology directly supports business growth, manufacturing excellence, and customer requirements unique to the semiconductor sector.

This role partners closely with the broader Precinmac IT organization, business unit leadership and cross‑functional teams to leverage technology that improves throughput, reduces variability, supports precision manufacturing, and drives real‑time insight across the business.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Leadership & Technology Vision

  • Develop and execute a forward‑looking IT strategy aligned with business goals, manufacturing requirements, and semiconductor‑industry expectations.
  • Drive digital transformation initiatives including automation, data integration, advanced analytics, and shop‑floor connectivity (MES, SPC, IoT).
  • Serve as the internal thought leader on AI, driving a clear strategy for applying AI tools to streamline workflows, reduce manual effort, and improve decision‑making across business functions (e.g., operations, HR, finance, supply chain).
  • Evaluate emerging technologies for their applicability to manufacturing efficiency, precision, quality, and customer compliance, with consideration for long‑term scalability and operational resilience.

Business Systems, Data, and Decision Support

  • Lead application strategy (ERP, MES, QMS, CRM) for the business unit, ensuring systems are well‑documented, properly licensed, and optimized for production accuracy, traceability, scalability, and throughput.
  • Build and expand BI capabilities — real‑time dashboards, KPI reporting, forecasting tools — designed to give BU leadership direct, self‑sufficient visibility into performance.
  • In coordination with the broader organization, establish data governance, data quality, and master data management practices that ensure the business unit's data is clean, well‑structured, and independently maintainable for the business unit.

Infrastructure, Cybersecurity & Operations

  • Own IT infrastructure for the business unit — networks, cloud services, servers, storage, end‑user computing, and communications — with clear documentation of system architecture, dependencies, and ownership.
  • Implement and mature cybersecurity programs aligned with manufacturing risk profiles and semiconductor customer expectations (e.g., NIST, supply‑chain security).
  • Establish business continuity and disaster recovery strategies for critical manufacturing systems.
  • Manage IT operations across multiple facilities, ensuring consistent performance and availability.

Cross‑Functional Partnership

  • Collaborate with Operations, Engineering, Quality, Supply Chain, and Finance to understand requirements and design solutions that reduce downtime, increase yield, and improve process control.
  • Enable technology use across all levels, from shop‑floor operators to executives, enhancing workforce productivity and information access.
  • Serve as primary liaison between IT and external partners, auditors, integrators, and technology providers.
  • Lead large‑scale IT projects for the business unit including system upgrades, site integrations, and infrastructure improvements.
  • Negotiate and manage vendor contracts and relationships at the business unit level, with attention to contract terms, ownership, and service‑level accountability.

Education & Experience Requirement:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field required, Master’s degree or MBA preferred.
  • Minimum ten years of experience managing IT operations, including leadership responsibilities.
  • ITIL, PMP, CISSP, or other relevant certifications for IT governance and project management are preferred.

LEADERSHIP COMPETENCIES

Collaboration, Trust & Engagement: Builds strong relationships, fosters open communication, and creates an environment where people feel valued and motivated.

Customer Focus & Impact: Understands customer (internal & external) needs and delivers solutions that create meaningful value and long‑term trust.

Results & Accountability: Bias toward action to deliver high‑quality outcomes, takes ownership, and holds self and others accountable for achieving goals.

Business & Financial Insights: Applies sound business judgment and financial understanding to guide decisions and improve performance with a continuous improvement mindset. Encourages creative thinking and problem solving, challenges assumptions and adapts to evolving challenges, and drives creative solutions that move the organization forward.

Desired Skills & Abilities:

  • Strong leadership and communication skills, capable of influencing at all organizational levels.
  • Deep experience in IT management within manufacturing, industrial, or high‑precision environments; semiconductor‑related exposure highly preferred.
  • Expertise in enterprise systems (ERP/MES), data platforms, analytics tools, and modern IT architectures.
  • Strong understanding of cybersecurity frameworks and compliance requirements for industrial environments.
  • Ability to build high‑performing IT teams and elevate organizational technology capability.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and project management skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive change, standardize processes, and implement scalable solutions across multiple sites.
