JOB SUMMARY: The Application Release Manager is responsible for coordinating the deployment of releases of business applications into production environments. This role ensures that changes are planned, tested, and deployed in a controlled manner, maintaining the integrity and stability of production systems.
This position acts as a central point of coordination across application teams, infrastructure, QA, vendors, and business stakeholders to ensure successful release execution and alignment to business priorities.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Release Planning & Governance:
  • Defines and maintains the Release Management policy, process, and SOPs
  • Develops and manages the enterprise release calendar
  • Release Coordination:
  • Serves as the lead coordinator for Application Support and Infrastructure production releases of existing systems
  • Coordinates release activities across Application teams, Infrastructure teams, Business stakeholders, Vendors and third parties
  • Ensures:
  • Testing is completed (QA/UAT validation)
  • Deployment plans are documented and approved
  • Backout/rollback plans are defined and viable
  • Risk & Dependency Management:
  • Identifies and manages:
  • Cross-system dependencies
  • Release conflicts and collisions
  • Resource constraints
  • Evaluates and escalates risks impacting release success
  • Ensures mitigation strategies are in place
  • Stakeholder Engagement & Communication:
  • Communicates release plans, risks, and status to:
  • IT leadership
  • Business stakeholders
  • Operations teams
  • Facilitate release readiness meetings and go/no-go decisions
  • Provides clear pre-release, during-release, and post-release communication
  • Post-Release Validation & Continuous Improvement:
  • Ensures post-deployment validation is completed
  • Coordinates and drives hyper care and issue resolution following release
  • Identifies improvement opportunities and drives process maturity
  • Tooling & Automation:
  • Manages and optimizes use of:
  • Integrated Change Management workflows
  • Release dashboards and reporting
  • Drives adoption of:
  • Standardized release tracking
  • Automation where applicable (CI/CD alignment over time)
  • Adheres to and complies with applicable, federal and state laws, regulations and guidance, including those related to anti-money laundering (i.e. Bank Secrecy Act, US PATRIOT Act, etc.).
  • Adheres to Bank policies and procedures and completes required training.
  • Identifies and reports suspicious activity.

QUALIFICATIONS
Education
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience.

Experience
  • 7+ years in Release Management.
  • Strong experience with ITIL framework (Release & Change Management).
  • Experience in environments with CAB governance and multi-application / multi-vendor ecosystems.
  • Experience with QA/UAT coordination, deployment planning and rollback strategies.

Licenses and Certifications
  • ITIL Foundations Certification a plus.
  • Project Management Certificate a plus.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Strong understanding of Release lifecycle and Change Management integration.
  • Strong analytical, interpersonal, collaboration, presentation, influence, and problem-solving skills is a must.
  • Strong 'self-starter' with ability to manage competing priorities.
  • Effectively lead or collaborate with cross-functional resources to manage and resolve interdependencies.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills; proven track-record of successfully briefing team members at all levels of an organization.
  • Must have strong organizational skills with a proven ability to work autonomously, multi-task and manage multiple projects.
