What is an application release manager?

Application Release Managers are professionals responsible for overseeing the planning, scheduling, and coordination of software releases within an organization. They work closely with development, quality assurance, and operations teams to ensure that new applications or updates are delivered smoothly and on time. Their role involves managing risks, ensuring compliance with release processes, and facilitating communication among stakeholders. Application Release Managers play a crucial part in minimizing disruptions and ensuring the reliability and quality of software deployments.

How does an application release manager typically coordinate with development and operations teams during a release cycle?

An Application Release Manager plays a crucial role in bridging the gap between development and operations teams. They facilitate regular meetings, manage release schedules, and ensure all stakeholders are aligned on release goals and timelines. Effective communication is essential, as they must track progress, address issues promptly, and coordinate testing and deployment activities. By fostering collaboration, they help ensure releases are delivered smoothly, on time, and with minimal disruption to business operations.

To thrive as an Application Release Manager, you need a solid background in software development lifecycle (SDLC) management, release planning, and configuration management, often supported by a degree in computer science or a related field. Familiarity with CI/CD tools like Jenkins, version control systems such as Git, and ITIL or Agile methodologies is highly beneficial, with certifications like ITIL or PMP being advantageous. Technical Writer/Release Manager - Salesforce Automation

Tallahassee, FL

Full-time

Re-posted 13 days ago

Job description

Judit Inc. is seeking a versatile professional to fill a combined role spanning technical writing, Azure DevOps release management, and Salesforce automated QA testing for the AHCA Rural Health Transformation Program. This position is responsible for producing clear, audit-ready project deliverables; owning the release management cadence across the Salesforce development lifecycle; and building/executing automated test coverage — including Apex test classes — to ensure release quality. Candidates with strength across all three areas are preferred; candidates who are exceptionally strong in two of the three are still encouraged to apply, as Judit Inc. may pair this role with a complementary resource depending on final team composition.

Key Responsibilities

  • Author, edit, and maintain project deliverables including functional specifications, release notes, user guides, training materials, SOPs, and requirements traceability matrices for AHCA stakeholders.
  • Own the release management process in Azure DevOps (ADO): manage backlogs, sprints, release pipelines, branching strategy, and deployment schedules across Salesforce environments (Dev, QA, UAT, and Production).
  • Coordinate and execute Salesforce deployments (change sets, SFDX, and/or DevOps tools such as Copado or Gearset) in alignment with the ADO release calendar.
  • Design, build, and execute automated test scripts and Apex test classes for Salesforce customizations, maintaining required code coverage thresholds.
  • Build and maintain regression test suites using Salesforce test automation tooling and support UAT cycles with the broader program team.
  • Track defects through resolution and produce release-readiness / go–no-go reporting for program leadership.
  • Partner with the MuleSoft and Salesforce development teams to document integration points, data flows, and API specifications.
  • Ensure documentation, release records, and test evidence meet state government audit and compliance standards.
  • Facilitate release and change-management communication across Judit Inc., Guidehouse, and AHCA stakeholders.

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of combined experience across technical writing, DevOps/release management, and/or Salesforce quality assurance.
  • Hands-on experience with Azure DevOps (Boards, Repos, Pipelines, Releases) in a live delivery environment.
  • Experience writing and maintaining Apex test classes and executing Salesforce automated test suites.
  • Strong technical writing skills, with the ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear documentation for both technical and non-technical government stakeholders.
  • Experience supporting Agile/Scrum delivery teams and managing structured release cycles.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States and able to pass a state-required background check.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Salesforce Administrator or Platform App Builder certification.
  • Experience with Salesforce release/DevOps tooling such as Copado, Gearset, or Flosum.
  • Trailhead Ranger status or demonstrated continuous Salesforce learning.
  • ITIL Foundation certification or formal release/change management training.
  • Prior experience on state or local government, health and human services, or grants management implementations.
