Position Summary:


This position is familiar with multiple product lines but may focus on one product line to develop product expertise and works independent with some supervision of work. Has successfully managed some medium specification projects that shipped and/or made some sales calls or presentations independently. Can quote and handle Service related issues. Choice to assign more complex work is becoming a non-issue. Can travel independently on occasion, assists in training others and/or performs FEA/design calculations in a blended role. Work requires willingness to work a flexible schedule.


Key Results Areas by level of work:


Level II: Service – Coordinating “production” with problem solving and prevention


1. Resource management (material and people)

  • Communicates with shop staff, QA/QC inspectors, and engineering staff on a daily basis.
  • Interacts with customers to deliver first time quality.
  • Engages leadership team in setting and achieving goals. This includes working with key leadership both functionally and strategically to drive overall improvements inside and outside of engineering.
  • Plays an active role in product design/development including review of technical details, design for manufacture (cost effective and manufacturing process compliant) and design for test (efficient manufacturing test ensuring product quality).


2. Resource scheduling, output management and reporting

  • Ensure open communication throughout the organization by keeping management informed of Project status and ensuring coordination of Lean activities.
  • Create metrics, deployment goals, and objectives to drive accountability throughout the project team.
  • Organizes, plans, reviews, and provides status of projects managed.
  • Engage in product requirements definition and reviews.
  • Participate as reviewer in the design review process.

3. Continuous Improvement

  • Identify, review and develop product improvements.
  • Confers with management to establish continuous improvement goals/objectives and overall direction.
  • Identify areas with other functional leaders, employees, and customers to develop significant lean opportunities for improvement throughout the organization.
  • Chairs meetings and process improvement teams.

4. Equipment & process maintenance

  • Development and maintenance of methods for measuring progress to ensure that project goals, objectives, and metrics are being met and maintained.

5. Professional Development (self and reports)

  • Models operational excellence, visibly demonstrating leadership and technical expertise.
