About Furuno USA

At Furuno USA, we believe every team member makes a significant contribution to our success. We are at the forefront of high-precision technology, and we are looking for a Field Application Engineer (FAE) to help us drive our next-generation timing and synchronization infrastructure. You will be instrumental in supporting critical sectors, including telecommunications and data center operations, ensuring our customers receive world-class technical integration and support. This position is located on our corporate headquarters in Camas, Washington. Authorized to work in the U.S. without the need for sponsorship is a requirement of employment.

Your Role

As a Field Application Engineer, you will serve as the technical bridge between our global customers and our internal engineering teams. You will own the technical relationship throughout the customer lifecycle—from initial pre-sales discovery and architecture design to post-sales deployment and troubleshooting. This is a high-impact, customer-facing role that requires a blend of deep technical curiosity, proficiency in synchronization protocols, and strong communication skills.

What You’ll Do

  • Technical Consultation: Engage directly with global customers to understand their infrastructure requirements and provide expert guidance on timing and synchronization solutions.
  • Systems Support: Provide hands-on technical support for GNSS timing and synchronization components and systems, ensuring optimal performance and reliability in complex environments.
  • Cross-Functional Liaison: Act as the primary technical advocate for the customer, working closely with internal engineering teams to communicate requirements, solve integration challenges, and influence product roadmaps.
  • Full-Cycle Engagement: Lead technical activities across both pre-sales (technical demonstrations, proof-of-concept design) and post-sales (deployment support, configuration, and troubleshooting).
  • Project Management: Manage multiple technical projects simultaneously, requiring a high degree of independent judgment and analytical problem-solving.

What You’ll Bring

  • Education & Experience:
  1. Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Telecommunications, or a related technical field.
  2. Note: We are excited to consider recent college graduates for this position; relevant academic projects, internships, or certifications may be used to satisfy experience requirements.
  • Technical Knowledge:
  1. Foundational knowledge of GNSS (Global Navigation Satellite System) technology.
  2. Proficiency in timing protocols, specifically NTP (Network Time Protocol) and PTP (Precision Time Protocol).
  3. Solid understanding of Networking and synchronization architectures.
  • Preferred Background:
  1. Experience in a customer-facing technical support or engineering role is a plus.
  2. Familiarity with Telecom or Data Center infrastructure sectors is highly desirable.
  • Communication: Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Initiative: A proactive mindset with the ability to troubleshoot under minimal supervision and a willingness to travel to support global customers as needed.

Work Environment & Expectations

  • This role involves frequent interaction with global clients; adaptability to different time zones and cultural business practices is essential.
  • You will operate with a high degree of autonomy, requiring strong decision-making capabilities.
  • The position demands continuous learning to keep pace with evolving synchronization standards and infrastructure technology.
