Job description

TRC Talent Solutions is seeking an Application Engineer for a direct-hire opportunity with a growing manufacturing organization in Hiram, GA. This role serves as a critical link between customers, sales teams, engineering, and manufacturing operations by developing application-specific solutions that meet customer requirements and support business growth.

The Application Engineer will provide technical expertise throughout the project lifecycle, including product selection, system design, testing, and product development initiatives. This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer who enjoys solving technical challenges, collaborating cross-functionally, and working directly with customers to deliver innovative solutions.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Gather application requirements directly from customers and customer-facing teams to develop effective technical solutions.

  • Provide technical guidance related to product selection, application design, and system performance.

  • Recommend auxiliary equipment including variable frequency drives (VFDs), soft starters, electronic control circuits, and other system-enhancing products.

  • Support internal and external sales teams by providing product expertise and application engineering support.

  • Collaborate with manufacturing teams to identify opportunities for cost reduction, quality improvements, and product optimization.

  • Assist with planning, coordinating, and executing product testing to evaluate performance and reliability under real-world operating conditions.

  • Partner with product development teams to support new product innovation and ongoing product enhancements.

  • Create and maintain technical documentation, including installation guides, product literature, brochures, and application support materials.

  • Develop Controls Functional Specifications and Descriptions of Operation documentation.

  • Communicate technical information clearly and effectively to customers, vendors, management, and internal stakeholders.

  • Provide troubleshooting support and technical recommendations throughout the customer lifecycle.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Education: Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering (Mechatronics preferred), Computer Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.

  • AutoCAD Experience: Minimum of 1 year of experience using AutoCAD.

  • Microsoft Excel: Minimum of 1 year of experience utilizing Excel for technical analysis, reporting, or engineering applications.

  • Technical Software: Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, AutoCAD, Autodesk Inventor, and SAP.

  • Technical Aptitude: Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, technical documents, industry regulations, and technical journals.

  • Problem-Solving: Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify technical issues and develop effective solutions.

  • Communication Skills: Ability to effectively communicate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.

  • Measurement Systems: Ability to work with both imperial and metric measurement systems.

  • Customer Focus: Ability to work directly with customers and internal teams to understand requirements and deliver practical engineering solutions.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Controls Experience: Exposure to motor controls, VFDs, soft starters, automation systems, or industrial control applications.

  • Manufacturing Experience: Experience working within a manufacturing, industrial, or product development environment.

  • Product Development: Familiarity with product testing, validation, and continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Experience supporting sales, operations, engineering, and manufacturing teams in a technical capacity.
