Job description

This role is onsite 5 days a week at our Renew plant in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
Position Summary:
The Application Engineering position is responsible for external frontline technical support and resolving customer application issues both virtually and onsite. Internally, they will be supporting functions such as manufacturing locations, supply chain and quality. Additionally, they will be responsible for productivity and simplification projects.
Major Responsibilities:
  • Translates routine customer drawings and specifications into products that meet customer and Regal business needs.
  • Designs products to meet and exceed customer requirements with a strong understanding of basic design tools and methods for application of products.
  • Interacts with sales team and customers on routine applications to translate basic customer requirements to product designs for quotes and orders.
  • Interacts with sales team and customers to resolve application issues remotely and onsite, including broad product support.
  • Conducts basic product tear down analysis and populates data for root cause identification, corrective action forms, and failure analysis.
  • Redesigns products and systems to support change requests, simplification (VA/VE), and cost reductions.
  • Evaluates deviation or substitution requests from plants/suppliers and provides guidance on resolution.
  • Takes responsibility for and complete key tasks on a project-by-project basis, review and approve drawings, and drive to meet deadlines ensuring project success.
  • When appropriate, creates test plans to validate design concepts and material or manufacturing changes, summarizing results and documenting conclusions
  • Resolve challenges related to the interpretation of drawings, design tolerances, quality and material requirements
  • Execute design engineering functions including gear calculation, bearing selection, shaft and housing design, lubrication design, and accessory component design
  • Works closely with manufacturing, inspection, and assembly to problem solve issues
  • Write specifications (design specifications, product specifications, drafting instructions)
  • Designs custom modifications and accessories for industrial and marine power transmission equipment like lubrication systems, heaters, and mechanical seals

Required Education / Experience / Skills:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an accredited university
  • 3-5+ years' experience in application support, preferably with industrial products or other related industries
  • Understanding of Engineering BOMs and drawings
  • Proficient in MS Office tools
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and able to effectively problem solve, prioritize, and execute tasks with a sense of urgency.
  • Unquestionable business and personal integrity.
  • Enthusiastic and positive attitude.

Preferred
  • Knowledge of industrial gearboxes, manufacturing processes, castings, fabrications, forgings, sheet metal parts, fittings, and fasteners.
  • Experience in Solidworks, DraftSight, and GD&T practices
  • Experience in creating Excel macros
  • SAP Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Technology from an accredited university

Travel: 10-20%
Language: English required, Spanish would be beneficial
