Job Description
Founded in 1923, Peerless Pump Company is a US-based manufacturer of horizontal and vertical centrifugal pumps for fire, industrial, and municipal applications. With pump installations in 145 countries, Peerless is globally recognized for engineering tough, reliable, and versatile pump solutions with extensive flow and pressure capabilities. From our production facilities in Indianapolis and Houston to our service centers in Lubbock and Fresno, Peerless pumps are designed to protect people and property from fire and to bring water where it's needed most. Our product quality is second to none, but it's our people who've made us Peerless for over 100 years. Our legacy of innovation is fueled by attracting, training, and retaining employees from diverse backgrounds. With competitive benefits and a strong emphasis on development, growth, and innovation, Peerless employees come seeking a job but stay to build a career.
Are you passionate about combining technical expertise with customer-focused solutions to deliver engineered pump systems that exceed expectations? Then join us in our mission to pioneer smarter solutions for moving and transforming water, reducing energy consumption, and enhancing quality of life for people.
As our new Application Engineer I, you will be providing technical support, product selections, and quotations for Peerless pump solutions - ensuring every specification is met with precision while collaborating with business partners, internal teams, and suppliers to deliver outstanding results. You'll be part of a diverse, supportive and inclusive culture, that celebrates our differences and puts people first by fostering growth, well-being, and a sense of belonging.
What you will be doing
As a key part of the Industrial Applications Engineering team, you'll create impact by bridging the gap between customer needs and engineered solutions, ensuring every project is technically sound, competitively priced, and delivered on time.
Your main responsibilities include:
  • Review product specifications to determine technical requirements including equipment selection, sizing, costing, and pricing development.
  • Coordinate with direct suppliers on pricing, delivery timelines, and technical information to support accurate proposals.
  • Provide detailed documentation to Project Management covering pricing, delivery schedules, design information, and specification exceptions.
  • Conduct post-fulfillment project reviews to identify causes of margin erosion and implement improvements.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives to eliminate inefficiencies and errors in the order-winning process.
  • Serve as the voice of the customer, advocating for their needs while aligning with departmental procedures and Grundfos values.

What makes you a great fit
Above all, you are a detail-oriented technical professional with strong communication skills, an advanced understanding of pumps and rotating equipment, and a high sense of urgency to meet customer commitments. We would also imagine that you have:
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, engineering technology, or business with equivalent technical sales and manufacturing experience.
  • Advanced understanding of pumps, construction, hydraulics, and application of rotating equipment.
  • Strong interpersonal and written communication skills with keen attention to detail.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, AutoCAD (or similar drafting tools), SAP, and CRM systems.

It is a plus if you also have:
  • Previous experience in engineering, project management, or sales within a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience developing technical proposals or quotations for engineered-to-order products.
  • Familiarity with industrial pump standards and specifications (e.g., API, ANSI/HI).

Please note that relocation for this position cannot be supported and qualified candidates must have the authorization to work in the USA without support.
The salary range for this position is $58,400 to $87,325. Individual pay will be determined based on market location and the candidate's profile. The range listed is just one component of Grundfos's & Peerless Pump Company total compensation and benefits package for employees. Total compensation includes paid time off, paid holidays, merit increases, bonuses, and employee stock purchase programs, etc. Certain roles are eligible to earn sales incentives based on revenue or utilization. We care! Day to day, you can look forward to:
  • A working environment built around your needs, with flexible hours, home working opportunities and parental support.
  • Annual bonuses, health insurance and a strong focus on well-being activities.
  • Three days' additional paid leave for volunteering in your community.
  • Access to on-demand training and learning sessions and carefully structured programmes to pursue personal and professional development opportunities.
