What You Will Do:

  • The Application Architect will work closely with clients, leaders, solutions architects, and technical/functional leads across Guidehouse teams and market segments to support client projects and provide solutions for growth efforts and capabilities build-out.

  • Serve as a key member of the modernization team to lead and mentor full-stack development teams, providing technical guidance and architectural oversight for innovative solution prototypes using cloud architectures and modern software technologies.

  • Lead solutions architecture and hands-on engineering/full-stack development of scalable and secure distributed systems using modern software technologies and programming, AWS Native and microservices architecture, containerization, and API-First design patterns.

  • Work collaboratively with user experience designers, platform engineers, product owners, solution architects, business analysts, and full-stack development teams to design, build, test, and deploy high-value, operationally resilient software products on the AWS cloud platform that satisfy functional and non-functional requirements.

  • Define application architecture standards, design patterns, and development best practices across development teams while establishing architectural roadmaps for complex modernization projects and ensuring alignment with AWS Well-Architected Framework principles.

  • Lead technical decision-making processes, oversee the implementation of complex distributed systems, and provide escalation support for complex technical challenges while managing project timelines, resource allocation, and technical deliverables for multiple concurrent initiatives.

  • Guide proof-of-concept development and technical demos to validate solution strategies, lead solution architecture efforts for RFPs, technical proposals, and thought leadership initiatives.


What You Will Need:

  • Must be a US Citizen or a Green Card holder.

  • A Bachelor's degree or additional four(4) years of relevant experience will be needed in lieu of degree.

  • Minimum of Six(6) to Ten (10) years of prior relevant experience in full-stack application development with at least FOUR (4) years in leadership/architectural roles

  • Minimum of FIVE (5) years of experience with AWS cloud application development to build/modernize applications

  • Experience and proficiency in leading teams and implementing frontend and backend services for cloud-native software products and solutions such as Python, JavaScript, Django, and Vue.js.

  • The must-have skills include expert proficiency in Python and JavaScript with proven team leadership experience managing 5+ developers.

  • For Django experience, candidates can alternatively have experience with Flask, FastAPI, Falcon, or SQLAlchemy. Similarly, for Vue.js experience, alternatives include React, Svelte, or Angular (version 1.6 or higher).

  • Proven ability to work autonomously and lead, mentor, collaborate, help, and support other team members to solve complex technical problems while managing multiple concurrent projects.

  • Proven ability to architect software products and solution prototypes, establish technical standards, and use prototypes to validate technical solution strategies and communicate and explain the pros and cons of complex design alternatives to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

  • Experience with microservices architecture, API design patterns, containerization (Docker/Kubernetes), serverless computing, and modern CI/CD practices for enterprise-scale applications.

  • Familiarity with the AWS Serverless Application Model (SAM) and proven design patterns, like Model-View-Controller, Circuit Breaker, and Event-Driven patterns, is required, as is the ability to design and build cloud-based software products that conform to the AWS Well-Architected Framework design principles.

  • This is a hands-on cloud software architect/engineering leadership position and requires the ability to proficiently and predictably build, deploy, and architect custom applications in the AWS cloud while leading technical teams.

  • Proven ability to design, build, test, and deploy software products and solutions on the AWS cloud platform with demonstrated success in client-facing roles and stakeholder management.

  • An in-depth understanding of Agile and Scaled Agile practices and principles, with extensive experience. Must be an experienced Agile practitioner with proven ability to plan and implement software products with agility while leading development teams.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with an ability to handle customer requirements, engineer solutions, and present complex technical concepts to executive stakeholders.

  • Must be able to OBTAIN and MAINTAIN a Federal or DoD "PUBLIC TRUST"; candidates must obtain approved adjudication of their PUBLIC TRUST prior to onboarding with Guidehouse. Candidates with an ACTIVE PUBLIC TRUST or SUITABILITY are preferred.

  • Flask, Docker, EKS/Kubernetes, AWS Step Functions, Event Bridge, AWS Lambda, AWS API Gateway, Elasticsearch, Caching frameworks, Redis, Memcached, the Amazon Relational Database Service (RDS) for Postgres, and/or the MongoDB NoSQL database service.

  • Solution architecture support for technical volumes of proposals and white papers for RFPs/RFIs and thought leadership initiatives with a proven track record in client services and consulting.

  • Experience with advanced monitoring and observability tools, performance tuning, and capacity planning for large-scale distributed systems.

  • Proficiency in delivering cloud-based software products using contemporary CI/CD pipeline tooling and the ability to continuously collaborate with development, operations, and security (DevSecOps) team members to deliver secure and operationally resilient software products and solutions.

  • Contribution to open-source projects, technical publications, or thought leadership in application architecture and cloud-native development.

The annual salary range for this position is $102,000.00-$170,000.00. Compensation decisions depend on a wide range of factors, including but not limited to skill sets, experience and training, security clearances, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs.
