Sands Anderson PC, a full-service, mid-sized Mid-Atlantic law firm, seeks a strategic, commercially focused leader to direct the firms business development, client growth, and marketing function across six offices. This role serves as a trusted advisor to firm leadership, partnering with attorneys, practice groups, and industry teams to drive firmwide growth initiatives and enhance market position. The successful candidate will play a critical role in expanding revenue opportunities, deepening client relationships, and elevating the firms brand and competitive standing in the marketplace.

Job Summary:

Leads the firms business development and marketing function, delivering strategic vision and integrated business planning while supporting attorneys and practice groups in advancing growth initiatives. Directs internal teams and external partners in the design and execution of annual marketing and business development plans aligned with the firms strategic priorities. Converts data-driven insights into actionable strategies, ensuring disciplined execution, performance measurement, and continuous optimization of all business development initiatives.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Partner with attorneys, Group Leaders, and the Board of Directors to design and execute strategic business development initiatives aligned with the firms long-term growth objectives
  • Lead the development and execution of the firmwide business development strategy, including cross-selling initiatives and key client programs to drive revenue expansion
  • Advise and empower attorneys and practice teams to identify, pursue, and convert high-value business opportunities, strengthening existing client relationships and expanding into new markets
  • Provide strategic direction and executive-level guidance on the development of client proposals and presentations to enhance win rates and market positioning
  • Oversee the strategic planning and execution of events, seminars, webinars, CLE programs, and client engagement activities that advance the firms growth and brand objectives
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to attorneys on marketing and business development strategies and best practices to elevate individual and practice performance
  • Direct the development and application of competitive intelligence and market insights to inform strategic decision-making and positioning
  • Maintain and optimize client contact data to support targeted, effective, and compliant external communications initiatives

Management Responsibilities

  • Lead, develop, and oversee a high-performing marketing team, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous professional growth
  • Direct and optimize relationships with agencies, media partners, vendors, and contractors to ensure effective execution of firm growth initiatives and maximize return on investment
  • Own and lead the annual planning and budgeting process for business development and marketing, ensuring alignment with firm strategy and disciplined resource allocation
  • Oversee the development and delivery of client-facing digital and print communications to ensure consistency, quality, and alignment with the firms brand and growth objectives
  • Set and drive the firms brand strategy, ensuring consistent execution across all marketing channels and platforms to strengthen market position
  • Direct the preparation and positioning of firm and practice submissions for key directories, rankings, and publications to elevate visibility and reputation
  • Oversee the strategy and execution of client communications, including email alerts, newsletters, and digital campaigns, to enhance client engagement and retention

Essential Job Specifications/Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in Marketing, Public Relations, Business Administration, or related field
  • 10+ years of relevant experience in a professional services environment
  • Proven ability to drive revenue growth and business development outcomes
  • Strong relationship development and management skills
  • Excellent written, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Advanced organizational, time management, and project management capabilities
  • Demonstrated ability to execute detailed initiatives while partnering with leadership on strategy
  • Prior team leadership experience, including oversight, coaching, and talent development
