Is an application developer a software engineer?

An application developer is a type of software engineer who designs, builds, and maintains software applications. Both roles often require knowledge of programming languages, development tools, and software lifecycle processes, but titles can vary by organization. In many cases, application developers are considered software engineers specializing in application development.

What engineer makes $500,000 a year?

Application Developer Software Engineers typically do not earn $500,000 annually; such high salaries are more common among executive roles or highly specialized senior engineers with extensive experience, advanced skills, and often stock options or bonuses. Top-tier software engineers in certain industries or companies may reach high compensation levels, but $500,000 is generally above the standard salary range for this role.

Will AI replace developers in 2026?

Application developers and software engineers will continue to play a vital role in designing, coding, and maintaining software systems, even as AI tools automate certain tasks. Job description

Job Summary:
Sub-Zero Group, Inc. is a leading manufacturer of luxury kitchen appliances. The Application Developer will design and enhance Dynamics 365 CE / Dataverse solutions, implement automation, and manage data quality and governance processes.
Responsibilities:
• Design, configure, and enhance Dynamics 365 CE / Dataverse solutions, including tables, relationships, forms, views, business rules, model‑driven apps, security roles, and solution components.
• Build and maintain automation using Power Automate and Dataverse capabilities to enforce standards, streamline processes, and reduce manual intervention.
• Implement and support light‑to‑moderate custom development (e.g., plugins, custom actions, client‑side scripting) where platform capabilities alone are insufficient.
• Troubleshoot platform, automation, and customization issues with a focus on root cause resolution and long‑term stability.
• Manage solution lifecycle across environments (Dev/Test/Prod), including packaging, deployments, versioning, documentation, and rollback planning.
• Implement data quality controls such as validation rules, reference data enforcement, duplicate prevention/detection, and exception workflows.
• Define and monitor actionable data health metrics (e.g., completeness, duplicates, invalid values, stale records).
• Partner with business owners to improve upstream data entry practices and reduce data issues at the source.
• Document data standards and governance rules in ways that are enforceable, automated, and auditable.
• Implement and operationalize data retention, archival, and disposition processes aligned with policy and compliance requirements.
• Create repeatable processes for bulk data remediation, archival, and controlled purge activities with appropriate approvals and auditability.
• Monitor data growth and proactively recommend actions to maintain Dataverse performance and cost efficiency.
• Design and support integrations between Dynamics 365 / Dataverse and external systems using appropriate patterns (APIs, scheduled, or event‑based approaches).
• Ensure integration reliability through effective error handling, retries, idempotency, monitoring, and documented runbooks.
• Coordinate with security and infrastructure teams on identity, service principals, access controls, and secure connectivity.
• Contribute to integration design within established enterprise patterns; this role is not the sole integration or enterprise architect.
Qualifications:
Required:
• Proven experience engineering and supporting Microsoft Dynamics 365 CE and Dataverse, including data modeling, security, solutions, and environments.
• Strong hands‑on experience with Power Automate, including flow design, triggers, approvals, error handling, and operational support.
• Working knowledge of data modeling and SQL concepts, with the ability to diagnose data integrity and integration issues.
• Experience operating within governed ALM / SDLC practices for Power Platform and Dynamics 365.
• Practical experience working with REST APIs and JSON‑based integrations.
• Strong documentation, communication, and stakeholder collaboration skills, with the ability to translate business needs into enforceable system behavior.
Company:
Icons of design and performance, Sub-Zero, Wolf, and Cove define excellence in food preservation, cooking, and dishwashing. Founded in 1945, the company is headquartered in Madison, USA, with a team of 1001-5000 employees. The company is currently Late Stage.
