Job Description

About the team:

We are looking for a Senior Engineering Manager to lead the Automated Testing Framework (ATF) platform team. The ATF team builds one of ServiceNow's most strategic developer platforms and enables customers to safely develop, deploy, upgrade, and operate mission-critical workflows at enterprise scale. The team is pioneering AI-native experiences that help developers create, validate, and maintain complex business applications with significantly less effort.

This team is responsible for helping ServiceNow customers author, manage, and execute automated tests at scale, whether they're validating custom application logic through CI/CD pipelines or ensuring their platform customizations survive an upgrade without regression. As a Senior Manager you will be building AI native experiences that make this easier, faster, and more reliable than ever before.

  • Lead multiple product development teams and ensure delivery of high-quality, scalable, and secure software
  • Manage a team of engineers, providing technical leadership, mentoring, and career development.
  • Drive engineering excellence through architecture, design, and adoption of modern software practices.
  • Work with product management and cross-functional stakeholders to set priorities and achieve product and business goals.
  • Establish, standardize and scale strategies and automation frameworks across teams to ensure product reliability and performance.
  • Drive innovation and continuous improvement across engineering functions, leveraging AI/ML where relevant.
  • Drive Knowledge sharing of best practices related to engineering standards with other teams within ServiceNow.
  • Anticipate technical and organizational challenges nor restricted to potential issues that might impact multiple products or features due to their broad expanse, providing clarity and structured solutions.
  • Manage resources, staffing, and succession planning to build and retain a best-in-class engineering organization.

To be successful in this role you have:

  • Ability to manage projects with material technical risk at a team level
  • Experience with open-source tools and agile development environments
  • Fluency in one or more relevant programming languages (Java, JavaScript, TypeScript, etc.)
  • An understanding of broad concepts and experience using those concepts to understand and develop solutions for problems
  • Ability to execute a project based on our priorities, context, risks and desired outcomes
  • Proven success in managing large, distributed teams and leading through complexity
  • Must have experience providing direct field support to customers
Qualifications
  • Experience in leveraging or critical thinking about how to integrate AI into work processes, decision-making, or problem-solving. This may include using AI-powered tools, automating workflows, analyzing AI-driven insights, or exploring AI's potential impact on the function or industry.
  • Experience In using AI Productivity tools such as Windsurf, Cursor, etc is a plus or nice to have.
  • 10+ years of experience in software engineering and at least 5 + years of Experience in a management position for technical teams
  • Deep technical expertise in enterprise software development, architecture, and testing.
  • Fluency in multiple programming languages (Java, JavaScript, Python, etc.) and strong system design skills.
  • Advanced working knowledge of test engineering processes and methodologies with a track record of delivering high-quality products at scale while balancing speed and quality
  • Experience with CI/CD, DevOps, cloud platforms, and automation tools.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to understand and implement best practices and coding standards about role specific requirements (e.g. programming languages and tools, network design, functional design, algorithms, patterns, design and development, etc.).

For positions in this location, we offer a base pay of $190,900 - $334,100, plus equity (when applicable), variable/incentive compensation and benefits. Sales positions generally offer a competitive On Target Earnings (OTE) incentive compensation structure. Please note that the base pay shown is a guideline, and individual total compensation will vary based on factors such as qualifications, skill level, competencies, and work location. We also offer health plans, including flexible spending accounts, a 401(k) Plan with company match, ESPP, matching donations, a flexible time away plan and family leave programs. Compensation is based on the geographic location in which the role is located and is subject to change based on work location.
