Responsibilities

Please note this a remote, field position based in the mid-central region of the country and will require travel up to 80%. Ideal candiate locations are in the state of IL, IN, MI, OH, and WI.

The position as Automation Chemist is an opportunity for candidates who would like to develop their career from a central role as Automation Chemist into positions like Business Development Manager, Project Manager, Workflow Architect.

    Prepare, transfer, and execute a variety of different workflows and chemical tests on our automated workstations.
  • Present with enthusiasm our innovative workflow solutions during demos, tests.
  • Serve as the go-to person for troubleshooting and application support for our customers worldwide (e.g. by HoloLens mixed reality remote assistance).
  • Help to further develop our solutions with innovative ideas.
  • Perform installation of our automated laboratory solutions at customer sites, user training and customer support.
Qualifications
  • B.S. in Chemistry discipline.
  • Minimum 3 years of extensive on-site lab work experience involving industry and scientific instrumentation.
  • Hands on working knowledge of networked instrumentation, Windows.
  • Strong mechanical, electrical, and software troubleshooting skills.
  • Excellent customer focus with ability to reliably respond to inquiries, communicate, and interact with Scientists at our international customer sites, conferences, and exhibitions.
  • English fluency with strong oral, reading, written, MS Office, computer, technical data, and networking communication and presentation skills, with ability to communicate complex technical issues in an easy to understand manner.
  • Excellent organizational skills with ability to work independently, prioritize, multi-task, follow through, and meet deadlines within an entrepreneurial and customer-focused work environment.
  • Highly positive and supportive team player with active contributions to ongoing success and enthusiasm for combining chemistry with modern laboratory and automation equipment.
  • Ability to satisfactorily complete position compliance and training requirements.
  • Attend and actively participate in quarterly scientific technical training programs.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs., transport equipment and tools in excess of 300 lbs.
  • This position may require lifting heavy objects and maneuvering large bulky items.
  • This position requires reasonable dexterity to perform manual functions in confined spaces.
  • Proven ability to follow safety standards, practices, and codes.
  • Valid Driver License in good standing, issued by resident state, with reliable transportation.
  • U.S. Citizenship or U.S. Permanent Resident status required.
  • Maintain a valid passport with flexibility for domestic and international travel. Travel up to 80% will be required.
  • May be required to pass security clearance investigation.

At Chemspeed the base salary is part of our total compensation. The estimated base salary range for this full-time position is between $78,000 and $110,000 and provides an opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base salary for the role will depend on several job-related factors, including, but not limited to, education, training, experience, the geographic location of the successful candidate, skills, competencies, job-related knowledge, and travel requirements for this position. Full-time employees may also be eligible for a performance-related incentive and benefits.
