A Brief Overview
Will be responsible for the formulation and reverse engineering of skin, body, and hair care products, utilizing core cosmetic science and laboratory principles. They will possess extensive experience working with a variety of formulations, including but not limited to O/W and W/O emulsions, gels, pomades, shampoos, conditioners, body washes, hand soaps, mousses, and OTC products. This role requires a strong understanding of regulatory requirements related to cosmetic and personal care formulation, as well as a keen ability to research new products, chemistries, and innovations that drive new business opportunities.
What you will do
  • Research, formulate, and reverse engineering of skin, body, and hair care products employing general cosmetic science and laboratory principles and techniques.
  • Develop manufacturing processes and manage laboratory scale-up of formulations.
  • Skilled documentation and recording techniques common to laboratory practices.
  • Research new products, chemistries, and competitor products for new business opportunities.
  • Assist Product Development and Customer Service with technical calls to customers.
  • Up to date with industry and consumer trends.
  • Duties may vary slightly by location.

Education Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree Chemistry or related discipline required or commensurate experience (Preferred)

Experience Qualifications
  • 4-6 years Experience in cosmetic formulation and development (Required)
  • 4-6 years Experience with: O/W, W/O emulsions, gels, pomades, shampoos, conditioners, body wash, hand soaps, mousses, and OTC formulations (Preferred)
  • 4-6 years Experience with regulatory requirements as it pertains to cosmetic/personal care formulation (Preferred)

Skills and Abilities
  • In depth knowledge of principles of cosmetic science (High proficiency)
  • Ability to work with minimum supervision (High proficiency)
  • Excellent communication skills (High proficiency)
  • Prior experience in contract manufacturing desirable (Medium proficiency)
  • Ability to analyze data, interpret results, and make decisions that affect product development (High proficiency)
  • Attention to detail, especially when conducting experiments and documenting findings (High proficiency)
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment (High proficiency)
  • Ability to adjust to new challenges, evolving technologies, and market demands quickly (High proficiency)
  • Ability to think creatively to develop new formulations and improve existing products (High proficiency)
