What are apple cider donuts?

Apple cider donuts are a type of cake donut flavored with apple cider and warm spices like cinnamon and nutmeg. They are especially popular in the fall and are often found at apple orchards, farmers markets, and bakeries. The cider gives the donuts a moist texture and a subtle apple flavor, which is complemented by a coating of cinnamon sugar. These donuts are typically fried, but they can also be baked at home. They have become a seasonal favorite in many parts of the United States.

Love the smell of fresh, warm cider doughnuts? Join the Ecker’s Cider Doughnuts team this season! We are looking for enthusiastic, dependable Food Truck Crew Members to help us make, pack, and sell our soon-to-be famous cider doughnuts at local weekend events, festivals, and community spots.

This is a fast-paced, high-energy seasonal position perfect for students, side-hustlers, or anyone looking to earn extra income on the weekends. Working directly on our mobile food truck Friday through Sunday, you'll deliver delicious treats and great customer service to crowds of eager fans.

Key Responsibilities

  • Doughnut Production: Assist in mixing batter, operating automated doughnut fryers, monitoring oil temperatures, and tossing warm doughnuts in sugar/spices to exact quality standards.
  • Customer Service & Sales: Take customer orders at the window, operate the POS/register, handle payments accurately, and serve fresh doughnuts with a friendly attitude.
  • Food Prep & Truck Setup: Help load, unpack, and set up the food truck before service, ensuring all ingredients, packaging, and utensils are fully stocked.
  • Cleanliness & Food Safety: Maintain strict sanitation and food safety standards—sweeping, wiping surfaces, washing equipment, and managing waste during and after shifts.
  • Breakdown & Closing: Assist in closing down the truck at the end of the shift, cleaning machinery, and preparing equipment for the next event.

Qualifications & Requirements

Minimum Requirements:

  • Must be at least 16 years of age (18+ preferred for equipment operation).
  • Weekend Availability: Must be available to work Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays throughout the peak fall/event season.
  • Reliable Transportation: Ability to travel to the truck’s depot/meeting site or scheduled weekend event locations.
  • Strong customer service skills with a cheerful, energetic attitude.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a close-quarters, fast-paced food truck environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Basic understanding of food hygiene and safety guidelines (Food Handler Certification is a plus!).

Physical Demands

  • Ability to stand, move, and bend in a compact space for extended periods (shifts up to 8–10 hours).
  • Capacity to lift up to 40 lbs (bags of mix, oil jugs, supply crates). Occasionally 50 lbs.
  • Comfort working in varying outdoor temperatures (heat from fryers, cool fall mornings).
