Product Manager 

New York, NY

Pay Rate: $25-28/hour

General Summary
Ensure vendor partners meet internal performance protocols and regulatory compliance requirements per applicable laws. Handle day-to-day activities including product inspections, vendor onboarding, education, and communication with cross-functional teams, 3rd-party partners, and UMG brand vendors.

Key Responsibilities

Internal – Cross-Functional Partners

  • Partner with Sourcing, Production, Design, Legal, Merchandising, Retail Wholesale, and Vendors to resolve regulatory/compliance issues across product categories.

  • Monitor repetitive testing/inspection failures and vendor performance; extract data insights for review.

  • Stay current on wholesale account requirements and act as a consultant for cross-functional teams.

  • Create quarterly reports for Sourcing teams, Vendors, and Agents to support vendor assessments.

Internal – Program Management

  • Organize and maintain Product Integrity/Quality Assurance department records.

  • Perform additional tasks as assigned by manager.

External – Vendors

  • Oversee product testing program for physical properties, safety, and government regulations in production environments.

  • Maintain quality levels across all categories; onboard/educate new vendors on Quality, Product Integrity, and Regulatory Compliance programs, including policy updates.

  • Resolve vendor questions on inspections, testing, and compliance.

  • Ensure tests follow care codes, RSL, quality, and performance standards; identify issues, suggest solutions for failures, and recommend fixes.

External – Labs

  • Hold labs accountable for testing per specified methods, RSL, protocols, turn times, and reporting.

External – Regulatory

  • Monitor evolving State, Federal, and Global requirements.

  • Provide regulatory support to cross-functional partners with collaboration, guidance, and alignment.

  • Build foundational knowledge of technical product issues (components, materials, trims) to validate fiber content, care, testing, and regulations.

Position Requirements

  • 3-5 years Product Integrity experience required.

  • Experience with product testing labs a plus.

  • Knowledge of apparel manufacturing processes/procedures required.

  • Familiarity with industry standards/regulations (CPSC, CPSIA, FTC, CPSA, Cal Prop 65, REACH) and consumer product testing.

  • Superior Excel, MS Word, PowerPoint skills.

  • Highly organized with prioritization, urgency, and attention to detail.

  • Strong interpersonal/communication skills (written/oral) tailored to business needs.

  • Analytical, problem-solving, project management skills to evaluate solutions/approaches.

  • Positive team player; works independently as brand ambassador with external partners.

  • Passion for product testing, fabric trends, sustainability, and social compliance.
