Job description

Position Title: Product Development, Men's
Department: Design
Reports To: Director of Product Development

Primary Location: Detroit, MI
Employment Status: Hybrid

Position Overview:
Greyson Clothiers is growing our Men’s Product Development team and looking for great product talent in the Metro Detroit area.
We are intentionally keeping the level of this opportunity flexible. Whether you are earlier in your product development career and ready to grow, or an experienced product developer prepared to take on greater ownership of the development process, we are interested in meeting talented individuals who are passionate about apparel, product, and bringing great ideas to life.

The scope, title, and compensation for this position will be commensurate with experience.
As a member of the Men’s Product Development team, you will help bring Greyson product from initial design concept through development and production approval. You will work closely with Design, Merchandising, Production, Sales, and our vendor partners to ensure products are developed with the quality, performance, attention to detail, and elevated aesthetic expected of the Greyson brand.

What You’ll Work On
Product Development & Lifecycle Management
  • Support and/or manage the product development lifecycle from initial concept through production approval.
  • Partner closely with Design, Merchandising, and Production to execute seasonal product strategies.
  • Create, update, and maintain product specifications, tech packs, development records, and related documentation.
  • Track development milestones, samples, approvals, and key deliverables against the seasonal calendar.
  • Coordinate prototype, sample, and SMS development and tracking.
  • Participate in product reviews, fit sessions, and sample evaluations.
Materials, Trims & Vendor Partnership
  • Support the development and approval of fabrics, trims, colors, and other product components.
  • Communicate with vendors and manufacturing partners regarding samples, materials, timelines, pricing, and development needs.
  • Depending on experience, own vendor relationships and participate in sourcing, costing, lead-time, and MOQ discussions.
  • Help ensure materials and finished products meet Greyson’s quality and performance expectations.
Product Execution & Quality
  • Review samples and product details for accuracy, construction, quality, and consistency with the original design intent.
  • Identify development challenges and partner cross-functionally to drive solutions.
  • Support testing, approvals, and pre-production requirements.
  • Maintain accurate product records, archives, and development libraries.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Serve as a strong partner between Design, Merchandising, Production, Sales, and other teams throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Support sample management for internal reviews, sales meetings, presentations, and other key milestones.
  • Help translate product and design information into clear resources for internal teams.
  • Communicate development status, risks, and next steps to appropriate partners.
Process & Organization
  • Help build and maintain organized, scalable product development processes.
  • Identify opportunities to improve communication, workflows, tools, and development timelines.
  • Maintain strong organization across multiple seasons, styles, vendors, and competing priorities.
What We’re Looking For
We recognize that great product talent can come from different backgrounds and levels of experience. Rather than defining this opportunity around a specific title, we are interested in candidates who bring a combination of the following:
  • Experience in product development, apparel, fashion design, merchandising, production, or a related discipline.
  • Understanding of the apparel product lifecycle and how a product moves from concept through production.
  • Strong organizational skills and exceptional attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively across teams and with external partners.
  • Experience with tech packs, samples, fabrics, trims, product specifications, and/or vendor communication.
  • Proficiency with Adobe Illustrator and/or Photoshop and Microsoft Office.
  • A strong eye for product, quality, construction, and design.
  • Curiosity, initiative, and a willingness to solve problems and improve processes.
  • Passion for apparel and creating exceptional product.
  • A bachelor’s degree in Product Development, Fashion Design, Merchandising, or a related discipline is preferred, but relevant industry experience will also be considered.
Level & Compensation
  • This opportunity may be structured at different levels based on the experience and capabilities of the selected candidate. Title, scope of responsibility, and compensation will be commensurate with experience.
  • More experienced candidates may take greater ownership of seasonal development calendars, vendor relationships, sourcing and costing, product approvals, cross-functional leadership, and overall development execution.
  • For candidates earlier in their careers, the role may provide an opportunity to develop these capabilities while supporting the broader Men’s Product Development team.

  • 13 annual paid company holidays
  • Competative employee discount
  • Paid Family Leave Program (Maternity & Bonding)
