Job description

We are seeking an Associate Technical Designer to join our team and play an important role in bringing our apparel from concept through final product adoption. In this highly collaborative role, you will partner closely with Design, Product Development, vendors, and cross-functional teams to help execute the fit process, develop accurate technical specifications, and ensure products meet Lands' End standards for construction, quality, and consistency. This is a great opportunity for someone who is detail-oriented, technically strong, and energized by solving fit and construction challenges in a fast-paced apparel environment.
  • Support the technical development process across assigned product categories, including fit, materials, specifications, construction details, and quality standards.
  • Manage and conduct fit sessions, providing clear direction on adjustments needed to achieve the desired fit, quality, and consistency.
  • Partner with Design and Product Development teams to ensure products align with the creative vision, fit expectations, and technical requirements.
  • Create, maintain, and communicate accurate specification packages, including technical sketches, measurement charts, construction details, and fit comments.
  • Maintain accurate records of fit sessions, sample approvals, specification changes, and product development history.
  • Develop, approve, and track samples for product development, pre-production, and production while meeting key deadlines.
  • Apply and maintain fit blocks to support consistent fit across styles and sizes.
  • Evaluate products throughout the fit and production process to ensure quality standards are met.
  • Support cost and margin goals by ensuring technical specifications align with product design and business objectives.
  • Identify opportunities to improve fit, specification, and product development processes to increase efficiency and product quality.

Essential Skills
  • Bachelor's degree in Fashion Design, Technical Design, Apparel Engineering, or a related field.
  • 2 to 4 years of experience in technical design, product development, or a related apparel industry role.
  • Strong knowledge of garment construction, pattern making, grading, fit, and apparel manufacturing processes.
  • Experience identifying fit and construction issues and developing practical, product-right solutions.
  • Proficiency in technical design tools such as Adobe Illustrator, CAD, PLM, and 3D software; Browzwear experience is preferred.
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to work effectively across teams.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • High attention to detail, especially in measurements, fit evaluations, technical specifications, and documentation.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with Designers, Product Developers, vendors, and other partners to achieve shared product goals.
  • Experience with apparel product development and fit processes.
  • Familiarity with garment production and manufacturing processes.
  • Knowledge of current fashion trends and market standards.
