Arclin is seeking an experienced fixed equipment inspector to perform API (American Petroleum Institute) Authorized Inspector duties and NDE testing methods at our Spruance Site in Richmond, VA.

Role Snapshot

The Mechanical Integrity Inspector is responsible for ensuring the integrity, reliability, and regulatory compliance of pressure vessels, piping systems, storage tanks, and other fixed equipment to support safe and reliable plant operations. This role performs code-compliant inspections, provides technical expertise on equipment repairs and fitness-for-service, supports Mechanical Integrity (MI) and Process Safety Management (PSM) programs, and serves as the site's subject matter expert for applicable industry codes and inspection standards.


Core Responsibilities

Mechanical Integrity & Inspections

  • Perform inspections of pressure vessels, piping, storage tanks, and fixed equipment in accordance with company standards and ASME, API, National Board, and regulatory requirements.
  • Assess equipment condition and determine repair, alteration, or continued service recommendations.
  • Prepare inspection reports, authorize inspection activities within certification scope, and ensure timely completion of corrective actions.
  • Support repair planning, fitness-for-service evaluations, and failure investigations.

Regulatory Compliance & Owner/User Program

  • Maintain the site's Owner/User Inspection Program and Quality Assurance Manual.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, and industry regulations.
  • Coordinate required reporting, certifications, and accreditation activities.
  • Participate in regulatory, National Board, and Process Safety Management audits.

Technical Leadership

  • Serve as the site's technical resource for mechanical integrity, inspection codes, and industry best practices.
  • Mentor and develop inspection technicians and junior inspectors.
  • Evaluate new inspection technologies and recommend continuous improvements to inspection programs.

Quality & Contractor Oversight

  • Coordinate and oversee third-party inspection contractors.
  • Provide quality assurance support for repairs, alterations, fabrication activities, and vendor inspections.
  • Maintain inspection documentation and support risk-based inspection initiatives.

Safety & Operational Excellence

  • Promote a strong safety culture by maintaining required safety training, certifications, and inspection equipment.
  • Maintain qualification for respirator use, confined space entry, and work at heights.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives that enhance equipment reliability, operational performance, and regulatory compliance.
  • Qualifications

    Required

    • Minimum 3–5 years of mechanical integrity, inspection, or fixed equipment experience in an industrial manufacturing environment.
    • At least one current API certification (API 510, API 570, or API 653).
    • Working knowledge of ASME, API, National Board, and applicable regulatory codes.
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
    • Strong technical problem-solving, communication, and leadership skills.

    Preferred

    • National Board Inservice Inspection Commission (Owner/User) with "R" Endorsement.
    • UTT Level II and PT Level II certifications.
    • AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI).
    • Experience using Meridium Inspection Manager, Thickness Monitoring, and Risk-Based Inspection (RBI).
    • Ability to obtain additional certifications required for the role.

    Physical Requirements

    • Ability to work at heights, climb ladders, and enter confined spaces.
    • Ability to wear respiratory protection and pass required visual acuity testing.
    • Valid driver's license.
