The Dispatch Coordinator serves as a member of the APHIS Dispatch team in the Emergency Management Branch which is responsible for ensuring APHIS-wide readiness and response in the event of an animal or plant health emergency or event.Qualifications:Applicants must meet all qualifications and eligibility requirements by the closing date of the announcement including time-in-grade restrictions, specialized experience and/or education, as defined below.
TIME-IN-GRADE: Current federal employees applying for a promotion opportunity must meet time-in-grade (TIG) requirement of 52 weeks of service at the next lower grade level in the normal line of progression for the position being filled.
FOR THE GS-11 LEVEL: Applicants must have one year of specialized experience (equivalent to the GS-09 level) that may have been obtained in the private or public (local, county, state, Federal) sectors which demonstrates:
- Provides advice and guidance on the Animal and Plant Health Inspection's emergency mobilization processes and assists the Agency's emergency management personnel to deploy their resources efficiently and effectively.
- Maintains the accuracy and availability of dispatch data to be incorporated into reporting products delivered to executive-level leadership and emergency management personnel.
- Utilizes the Animal and Plant Health Inspection's response information systems to accurately dispatch responders to the location where they are needed with the information necessary to begin their deployment.
OR Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in the fields of Emergency Management, Homeland Security, Public Policy, or closely related.
