What are some common challenges an Aphasia Speech Pathologist faces when working with adult clients, and how can these be addressed?

Aphasia Speech Pathologists often encounter challenges such as varying severity of language impairment, client frustration, and the need for individualized treatment plans. Building rapport and maintaining motivation is essential, as progress can be slow and emotionally taxing for both clients and families. Collaboration with other healthcare professionals, like occupational therapists and neurologists, as well as involving family members in therapy, helps reinforce strategies and promote communication success in everyday situations.

What does an Aphasia Speech Pathologist do?

An Aphasia Speech Pathologist is a licensed professional who specializes in diagnosing and treating individuals with aphasia, a language disorder commonly caused by brain injury or stroke. They assess a patient’s communication abilities and develop personalized therapy plans to help improve speaking, understanding, reading, and writing skills. Their goal is to enhance the patient’s ability to communicate effectively in daily life and to support families in understanding and managing aphasia.

Exceptional interpersonal skills, patience, and creativity help in tailoring therapy and motivating clients with complex communication challenges. Speech-Language Pathologist
The Aubin Aphasia Speech and Language Center
We are seeking a Full Time Speech-Language Pathologist to join our growing team.
Applicants must currently hold a Washington State Speech-Language Pathology license (or have previously held one at the time of application). Our ideal candidate will be available to begin within two weeks of receiving an offer.

At Aubin Aphasia Speech and Language Center, we believe passionate SLPs deserve a workplace where they can thrive, grow, and feel genuinely supported. Our clinic was founded on innovation, clinical excellence, and an unwavering commitment to helping individuals communicate confidently at every stage of life.
What You'll Do:

  • Completion of clinical fellowship and national exam
  • Washington State SLP License (or eligible upon hire) and/or Alaska State SLP License
  • BLS certification (AHA) within 30 days of hire

Preferred Experience
  • 1-3 years of clinical experience
  • SpeakOUT and/or LSVT certification
  • AAC experience

Compensation & Benefits

  • Generous paid time off
  • Ongoing CEU and professional development support
  • Clear leadership and advancement pathways
  • A culture that prioritizes clinician sustainability

Join a Clinic Where You're Valued

If you're a licensed SLP ready to grow your career in a collaborative, forward-thinking environment, we would love to connect with you.
To Apply:
Please submit your resume and a cover letter sharing why you're passionate about speech-language pathology and what excites you about joining our team.
We can't wait to meet you.
