Job description
Respiratory Therapist
Location: VA Greater Los Angeles Healthcare System, Los Angeles, CA Schedule: Full-time; 8-hour shifts (day or night). No overtime or federal holidays.
Key Responsibilities:- Provide respiratory therapy services, including airway management and mechanical ventilation
- Administer oxygen therapy, bronchodilators, mucolytics, and medical gases
- Set up and manage CPAP, APAP, and BiPAP systems
- Respond to Rapid Response and emergency situations
- Monitor patient respiratory status and recognize need for medical intervention
- Educate patients and families on respiratory treatments and equipment
- Maintain accurate clinical documentation and records
- Comply with VA privacy, safety, infection control, and quality standards
- Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Therapy program
- Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential (NBRC)
- Current California Respiratory Care Practitioner license
- Minimum 2 years of respiratory therapy experience (1 year critical care required)
- Current CPR and ACLS certification
- Ability to pass VA credentialing, background checks, and health screening
