Job Description

The GIIN is looking to hire a full-time Associate, Finance & Operations to support the financial & other operational needs of this fast-paced, growing organization. The ideal candidate will have experience in processing and maintaining all aspects of the AR/AP function. Furthermore, this role will work closely with the Finance and Operations Manager and our external accountants to provide timely processing, reconciliation, quality assurance, status reporting, and various research and analysis projects.

This position will work within the Operations team and will report to the Finance and Operations Manager.

The GIIN is looking to hire a full-time Associate, Finance & Operations to support the financial & other operational needs of this fast-paced, growing organization. The ideal candidate will have experience in processing and maintaining all aspects of the AR/AP function. Furthermore, this role will work closely with the Finance and Operations Manager and our external accountants to provide timely and accurate processing, reconciliation, and financial reporting, as well as a variety of research and analytic projects.

Additionally, as the GIIN continues to build the internal capacity of our financial staff, this role will be key in building our ability to provide timely, accurate and relevant financial information to internal and external stakeholders.

This position will work within the Operations team and will report to the Finance and Operations Manager.

Responsibilities:
Accounts Payable
Review invoices or other supporting documentation for proper approval, coding, and accuracy
Maintain vendor files, within Bill.com and Dropbox
Answer vendor or staff inquiries regarding the status of payments
Monitor proper coding of all invoices and expenses against grant budgets
Process and reconcile company credit card transactions
Process employee expense reports
Upload transactions into QuickBooks and ensure proper coding/posting
Be a communication bridge between staff/vendors and other stakeholders

Accounts Receivable
Receive and record all incoming revenue, including checks, cash, wire, and credit card payments, and make electronic bank deposits in a timely manner
Support membership billing and collection activities within Salesforce
Reconcile Salesforce and QuickBooks records, ensuring membership revenue is accurate
Serve as the nexus of communication between the membership, development teams and other stakeholders
Track grant receivables and maintain customer files within Dropbox

Other Financial Operations
Assist with the management of grants, ensuring compliance with reporting requirements
Assist with year-end audit inquiries 
Work closely with manager to support a 30-day monthly close
Provide insight to improving finance processes, working with Finance & Operations Manager to ensure efficient implementation, adoption, and safeguarding
Lead new employee onboarding activities, as they relate to financial operations
Lead ongoing refinements to the GIIN's Finance and Accounting Handbook
Uphold financial controls throughout all financial operations
Provide excellent support to staff, vendors, and other stakeholders

Qualifications

Exceptional attentional to detail
Bachelor's degree, preferably in accounting, finance or another related degree 
Nonprofit Accounting experience strongly preferred
At least 2 years of experience processing AP and AR
Working knowledge of GAAP compliance
Staff Accountant or Junior Accountant experience preferred
Proficiency with MS Office applications, especially Excel; QuickBooks and Salesforce a plus
Well-organized, detail-oriented, and analytical
Willingness to take initiative to solve problems
Ability to meet deadlines, prioritize assignments, and juggle multiple tasks simultaneously
Personable, engaging presence, with diplomacy, tact, and good humor
