Job description

AOI Construction Division is seeking an experienced Superintendent to join our team! As a Superintendent on the Construction team, you'll oversee and complete projects required to deliver ground-up construction, interior office remodels, and tenant improvement projects across a wide range of markets.

Why Join AOI

At AOI, we build more than projects, we build trust, relationships, and lasting impact. For over 40 years, our Construction Division has partnered with some of the region's most respected organizations to bring visions to life. You'll join a collaborative, family-focused team that values integrity, craftsmanship, and innovation. Here, your ideas matter, your leadership makes a difference, and your work directly shapes the communities where we live and build.

What You'll Do

  • Lead the site: Direct daily functions of on-site personnel and subcontractors, serve as the on-site personnel leader, and conduct weekly safety meetings and job site inspections, keeping every project safe, organized, and moving forward.
  • Plan for success: Study specifications, plan construction procedures, develop two-week rolling schedules, and coordinate staffing and subcontractor activities across all phases of the project.
  • Deliver with precision: Inspect work in progress to verify conformance with plans and AOI's quality standards; prepare daily progress reports, manage redline sets, and complete all field paperwork including purchase orders, change orders, and timecards.
  • Build lasting relationships: Communicate proactively with project managers, architects, engineers, subcontractors, vendors, and clients.
  • Own the project: Manage procurement of tools and materials, oversee project closeout, mentor apprentices and lead carpenters, and enforce AOI's standards for quality, safety, and professionalism on every job site.
  • Safety & Compliance: Adhere to all safety protocols and ensure OSHA compliance. Maintain a positive safety culture on the job site.

What We're Looking For

  • Minimum of 5 years leading a commercial construction project in a supervisory role.
  • Strong knowledge of International Building Code and applicable state and local code requirements.
  • Ability to read, scale, and interpret blueprints, specifications, contracts, and regulatory documents.
  • Interior commercial carpentry experience is preferred.
  • Working knowledge of carpentry, trade, and shop practices across a broad range of commercial markets.
  • First Aid/CPR certification, and 10/30-hour OSHA certification.

What Will Make You Successful Here

  • Self-Motivated Leader: You hold yourself and your team to a high standard and show up ready to deliver every day.
  • Clear Communicator: You speak and write effectively with crews, subcontractors, clients, and leadership.
  • Problem Solver: You identify issues early, resolve them fairly and honestly, and keep the project on track without losing sight of safety or quality.
  • Mentor & Team Builder: You develop apprentices, lead carpenters, and new supervisors, creating an environment where people grow and take pride in their work.
  • Adaptable & Accountable: You embrace new challenges, stay organized across multiple tasks, and take ownership of your job site from day one to closeout.

Here, you will find

  • A trusted, General Contractor with a 40-year legacy; known for integrity, craftsmanship, and lasting client relationships.
  • Collaborative team environment partnering with AOI's Furniture and Prefabricated Interiors teams to deliver seamless, end-to-end solutions.
  • Access to tools, technology, and empowering leadership team that trust you to make decisions and lead with confidence

Company Culture

A culture built on people and purpose. AOI is a family-focused company that believes in kindness, integrity, and celebrating one another's success. You'll find supportive teammates, approachable leaders, and a place where your work and wellbeing truly matter.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Competitive salary
  • Comprehensive health, dental and vision coverage
  • 401(k) with company match
  • Paid vacation, sick pay and holidays
  • Truck allowance
  • Tuition reimbursement
  • Career development and growth opportunities

Travel

  • Occasional travel to job sites and project locations may be required, including overnight stays based on project needs.
  • AOI provides all necessary travel accommodations

Physical Demands and Work Environment

This position is primarily field-based. The Superintendent is regularly required to stand, walk, bend, reach, and navigate active construction sites including uneven terrain, ladders, and varying weather conditions. The employee may frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds or more. Occasional office work is required for reporting, scheduling, and administrative tasks.
