Job Summary:
Caterpillar Inc. is a global team focused on creating stronger and more sustainable communities. The Senior Software Engineer will design, develop, and integrate simulation and visualization capabilities for Caterpillar's digital twin and machine behavior modeling.
Responsibilities:
• Develop the simulation logic and behavioral models governing machine and system behavior.
• Create high-fidelity 3D models, scenes, and environments using NVIDIA Omniverse, USD, and Omniverse Kit-based pipelines.
• Develop and execute model validation and verification plans, ensuring digital twins are accurate and numerically stable.
• Integrate simulation components with current Caterpillar models, data systems, and digital twin frameworks.
• Contribute to toolchain and pipeline design, including scripting utilities, automated test frameworks, and modular code libraries.
• Work hands-on with multiple digital-twin platforms, such as NVIDIA Omniverse, CARLA, Siemens NX/Teamcenter/Plant Simulation, Dassault 3DEXPERIENCE, Ansys Twin Builder, or similar, Unity or Unreal Engine.
• Integrate data, models, or external simulation engines into unified digital-twin experiences.
• Assist in evaluating emerging tools and frameworks to expand Caterpillar’s simulation and digital-twin capabilities.
• Knowledge of development tools and activities; ability to produce software products or systems in line with product requirements.
• Conducts walkthroughs and monitors effectiveness and quality of the development activities.
• Elaborates on multiple-development toolkits for traditional simulation and digital twins.
• Has participated in development of multiple or large digital twins development.
• Contrasts advantages and drawbacks of different development languages and tools.
• Estimates and monitors development costs based on functional and technical requirements.
• Provides consulting on both selection and utilization of developers' workbench tools.
