Job description

Savannah Tank & Equipment is a premier custom manufacturer of ASME pressure vessels, API storage tanks, and heat exchangers based in Savannah, Georgia. With nearly 30 years in business, ASME code certifications, and expanding international operations, we custom-design and fabricate equipment for customers across energy, chemical, and industrial markets. Our engineering team works with AMETank, COMPRESS, Autodesk Inventor, AutoCAD, and Columbus ERP. We're looking for an Engineering Manager to lead this function and serve as the company's technical authority.

What You'll Own:

  • Lead engineering and design activities for tanks, pressure vessels, and heat exchangers from concept through fabrication
  • Serve as primary technical point of contact for customers regarding tank design, engineering, and drawings
  • Work with sales and estimating to review customer specifications and support technical aspects of quotations
  • Assign, perform, and review design calculations for compliance with ASME Section VIII, TEMA, and API storage tank standards
  • Serve as the company's technical authority on heat exchanger design, including interpretation of customer data sheets, process conditions, and thermal design calculations
  • Review thermal design packages prepared using tools such as HTRI to confirm design assumptions and resulting equipment configurations
  • Review third-party FEA reports (Ansys, STAAD.Pro) and apply critical engineering judgment to challenge assumptions when appropriate
  • Oversee preparation and verification of design calculations, fabrication drawings, and bills of material
  • Lead, mentor, and develop the engineering and drafting team
  • Collaborate with shop personnel and manufacturing leadership to ensure designs reflect sound fabrication practices and can be produced safely, efficiently, and cost-effectively

What You Bring:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline (Master's preferred)
  • Significant experience designing pressure vessels, storage tanks, and heat exchangers in an industrial equipment manufacturing environment
  • Thorough knowledge of ASME BPVC Section VIII; familiarity with API and TEMA standards
  • Strong understanding of heat exchanger design, including customer data sheets and thermal design review (HTRI, Aspen EDR, or similar)
  • Ability to review and interpret FEA reports and evaluate modeling assumptions and results
  • Practical knowledge of metal fabrication processes โ€” welding, forming, cutting, machining โ€” and the ability to translate engineering design into buildable equipment
  • Experience with pressure vessel and tank design software (COMPRESS, AMETank, or equivalent), Autodesk Inventor, and AutoCAD
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively across customers, engineers, and shop floor personnel
