In support of a challenging, critical, and rewarding program that provides integrated voice, video, and data services throughout the Information Technology lifecycle, Amentum is seeking a Senior Red Hat Satellite & Ansible Engineer to join our dynamic team of IT professionals dedicated to fostering a positive and collaborative work environment. You must be a critical thinker, have a strong work ethic, and be able to work independently or as a member of a team in a dynamic environment. To be successful, you must be able to rapidly adapt and learn how to operate the front and back end of new products and processes.
Work Schedule:
• 5 Days (Mon – Fri); 8 hrs/Day; 40 hrs/wkly Essential Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the Senior Red Hat Satellite & Ansible Engineer include, but are not limited to the following:
• Install and configure Red Hat Satellite services to support efficient system management, centralized patching, provisioning, and lifecycle maintenance of Red Hat Enterprise Linux environments
• Integrate Red Hat Satellite with VMware and Nutanix platforms to streamline management of virtualized environments, enhance provisioning workflows, and ensure consistent configuration and compliance across hybrid infrastructure
• Deliver comprehensive baseline configurations of the Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform by conducting detailed assessments of existing server configurations and performing necessary scaling adjustments
• Develop, configure, and tailor foundational playbooks, projects, and templates within the Ansible Automation Platform to support standardized automation practices, promote reusability, and align organizational requirements for infrastructure and application management
• Deploy fully provisioned environments—including complex SAP/HANA application landscapes—by leveraging automated workflows within the Ansible Automation Platform to ensure consistency, scalability, and operational efficiency across enterprise infrastructure
• Implement and manage Red Hat Ansible Tower to centralize and streamline automation workflows, providing role-based access, job scheduling, and enhanced reporting for Ansible automation activities
• Create and maintain Ansible Tower templates and workflows to improve team collaboration and support automated provisioning, configuration management, and compliance tasks
• Monitor and troubleshoot Ansible Tower environments, ensuring high availability and performance for critical automation processes Work Environment, Physical Demands, and Mental Demands: Minimum Requirements (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities):
• Must have active Top-Secret clearance with SCI or the ability to acquire Top Secret/SCI    • At least 4 years of comprehensive understanding and practical knowledge of Red Hat patch management using Satellite Server, as well as experience with related technologies including NFS, user account administration, sudo access configuration, LDAP client integration, and disk administration involving LVM and file systems such as XFS, ext3, and ext4
• Demonstrated experience in diagnosing and troubleshooting system-level issues to identify root causes and implement effective resolutions, particularly in environments running multiple concurrent applications that may affect overall system performance and stability. Basic enterprise networking background familiar with OSI/TCP Model
• Practical experience and working knowledge of VMware Tomcat, Apache, and Nutanix technologies, with the ability to configure, deploy, and manage these platforms within complex enterprise infrastructures
• Applied knowledge and hands-on experience integrating both custom-developed and commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) software solutions with Red Hat environments
• Experience with Red Hat Ansible Tower for managing and scaling automation, including configuring projects, workflows, and role-based access controls
• Ability to work a 40-hour work week, normally Monday through Friday. • Willingness to work overtime during critical peaks and be available to meet last-minute requests for overtime if needed. • Ability to travel (5-10%) primarily within 75 miles.
• Familiarity with MS Office applications such as Excel, Word, Outlook, SharePoint, Project, and Visio.   • Exceptional attention to detail; excellent verbal and written communication skills; strong critical thinking, organizational, time-management, and problem-solving skills.     • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team in a dynamic environment.   Security Clearance Required: Must have active Top-Secret clearance with SCI or TS with the ability to acquire SCI
Minimum Education: High School Diploma
Minimum Years of Experience: 4 years of relevant experience
Required Certifications:
Must possess, or be able to obtain, one of the following 8140 IAT Level II or III baseline certifications before start date: • Level II certs include – CCNA Security, GISCP, GSEC, Security+ CE, SSCP
• Level III certs include – CASP CE, CCNP Security, CISA, CISSP (or Associate), GCED, GCIH Preferred Qualifications: • Bachelor’s degree in IT related field
• Red Hat Certified System Administrator (RHCSA)
• Red Hat Certified System Engineer (RHCSE)
