This position is responsible for sourcing materials, hardware, tooling, and outside services while ensuring quality, cost, delivery, and customer requirements are met.
The ideal candidate has purchasing or supply chain experience in a precision manufacturing environment and understands the documentation, traceability, and compliance requirements associated with aerospace, defense, and DoD contracts.
Key Responsibilities
- Request and evaluate supplier quotations for raw materials, hardware, tooling, and outside processing services.
- Create and manage purchase orders based on production schedules, job requirements, and inventory needs.
- Source metals and specialty materials commonly used in precision machining.
- Coordinate outside services such as heat treating, plating, anodizing, grinding, welding, and nondestructive testing.
- Review purchase requirements for specifications, revisions, certifications, inspection requirements, and required flow-down provisions.
- Ensure suppliers provide required documentation, including material certifications, Certificates of Conformance, test reports, and process certifications.
- Monitor open purchase orders and communicate with suppliers regarding delivery dates, shortages, delays, and quality concerns.
- Compare supplier pricing, lead times, quality performance, and delivery history.
- Maintain approved supplier records and support supplier qualification and performance reviews.
- Coordinate with Procurement, Estimating, Engineering, Quality, Production, and Project Management to ensure materials and services meet job requirements.
- Maintain accurate purchasing, inventory, supplier, and job-related information in the company's ERP system.
- Identify supply chain risks and recommend alternate sources or purchasing strategies.
- Support receiving and Quality with discrepancies, damaged materials, incorrect documentation, and nonconforming products.
- Assist with inventory control, material availability, and purchasing forecasts.
- Protect sensitive customer, technical, and controlled information in accordance with company security policies.
- Support internal, customer, and regulatory audits related to purchasing and supplier controls.
- Perform other related duties as assigned to support the changing needs of the department and organization.
Qualifications
- Two or more years of experience in purchasing, procurement, supply chain, or materials coordination, preferably in CNC machining or precision manufacturing.
- Experience supporting aerospace, defense, or DoD-related manufacturing is strongly preferred.

- Strong communication, organization, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and respond effectively to changing production requirements.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and manufacturing ERP systems; JobBOSS or ProShop's experience is a plus.
- High level of accuracy, discretion, and attention to detail.
