Animal Transport Driver

The Arizona Humane Society is looking for a dedicated full-time Transport Driver to join our team. This position will report to our state-of-the-art Rob and Melani Walton Papago Park Campus and work a schedule of Friday - Monday 6:30 AM - 5:00 PM. A Day in the Life

As a Transport Driver, you are an integral part of shelter operations and are responsible for safely and thoughtfully transporting animals to and from off-site adoption locations, shelter facilities, and media/adoption events. You will help determine the movement of adoptable animals while ensuring the behavioral and medical criteria of each location and kennel is met. You will provide additional assistance to shelter personnel as needed, including but not limited to transportation of animals to non-AHS facilities, delivery of mail, and delivery of supplies.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma/GED
  • Valid Arizona driver's license
  • Must be 21 years of age
  • One year of prior work experience
  • Experience with animal handling is preferred
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
  • All Transport positions are required to drive AHS vehicles and are designated as safety sensitive. Candidates must have an acceptable driving record and ability to pass drug and background screening to be insured as an AHS driver.

Work Environment / Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to drive vehicles, stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls, reach with hands and arms, climb stairs, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds to a height of 4 feet. There will be exposure to dust, heat, cold and temperature changes; occasional wet floors, and animal noises, odors and dander. Typical work environment will be out of the office, driving a truck in a safe manner, working in the field.
