Animal Research Technician

Clinvet NY is a global veterinary contract research organization (CRO), specializing in in vitro, preclinical, and clinical trials to evaluate the safety, metabolism, and efficacy of animal health products. As part of the Clinglobal group, we support innovation for animal health companies worldwide-from startups to industry leaders.
Position Summary
The Animal Research Technician supports study coordinators and researchers by performing routine and advanced study activities, technical procedures, and animal care. This role plays a key part in both research execution and maintaining high standards of animal welfare and facility operations.
Key Responsibilities
Research & Technical Support
  • Assist with study activities and technical procedures following established protocols
  • Handle and restrain animals as directed
  • Observe and report changes in animal health, behavior, or consumption patterns
  • Collect specimens (e.g., blood, parasites, microbiological swabs) for analysis
  • Accurately record and maintain study and animal health data

Animal Care & Facility Support
  • Administer medications and treatments as directed
  • Prepare and manage feeds and specialized diets
  • Provide pre- and post-operative care
  • Receive, transport, and/or ship animals
  • Feed, water, groom, and exercise animals
  • Clean and sanitize animal rooms, cages, and equipment
  • Transfer animals, supplies, and equipment as needed

Qualifications
  • High school diploma + 3 years of lab animal experience OR
  • Associate degree/certification in animal science + 2 years of experience OR
  • Bachelor's degree in animal science + 1 year of experience

Physical Requirements
  • Ability to lift and move up to 50 lbs regularly
  • Ability to stand and remain active for an 8-hour shift
  • Comfortable performing cleaning/sanitation tasks involving animal waste
  • Strong communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Must be fit for duty and able to work safely around animals and equipment

Schedule & Work Environment
  • Full-time, 40 hours per week
  • Typical schedule: 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM
  • Weekend, holiday, and overtime work may be required

Compensation & Benefits
  • $18.00-$22.00 per hour, based on experience
  • Health, dental, vision, life, and disability insurance
  • Up to 3 weeks of PTO in the first year (increases with tenure)
  • 401(k) with company match up to 5%
