Job description

Job Title: Lab AssistantJob Description

As a Lab Assistant, you will be responsible for processing raw biological materials, primarily cow and pig blood, separating red and white blood cells used in the manufacturing of our products. You will also maintain and clean production equipment and containers post-processing runs. The end products from this role are essential for creating calibrators for hematology instruments. You will primarily work in a raw materials lab, utilizing centrifuges to break down animal blood, with further processing occurring in the components lab. This position is within an FDA-regulated lab, requiring meticulous documentation, including proper lot number recording.

Responsibilities
  • Operate centrifuges and clean dishware.
  • Wrap cleaned equipment for further sterilization.
  • Batch and label products.
  • Document results and processes, and refer to past batch records.
  • Understand and adhere to lab protocols and follow standard operating procedures, including regulatory awareness of chemical handling and hazards, compliance, and proper equipment use.
  • Follow daily work instructions and priorities set by supervisors with a strong commitment to safety.
  • Participate in continuous process improvement efforts and identify areas for enhancement.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Work Environment

The lab assistant will work in a well-lit basement lab, on their feet throughout the day, wearing a lab coat, goggles, and hairnet. The environment is clean, but involves working with large amounts of blood to remove red and white blood cells. Employees can wear headphones while working if desired. The work schedule is Monday through Friday from 2:00 PM to 10:30 PM, with little overtime or weekend work. No remote work is available.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Minneapolis, MN.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $21.00 - $22.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
