We are seeking individuals who demonstrate these values for an Animal Care Specialist Position. As an Animal Care Specialist, you can count on becoming not just part of a growing company, but a family.

POSITION OBJECTIVES AND PURPOSE:

The Animal Care Specialist is responsible for providing support to breeding, farrowing or wean-finish teams. Work with your manager on establishing a schedule and weekend rotations will be included.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Tasks are dependent upon the department, but may include:

  • Provide care for animals, ensuring they have access to food, water and a comfortable environment
  • Assist with movement of animals
  • Treat and vaccinate animals
  • Maintain accurate documentation
  • Assist in power washing
  • Promote a safe work environment
  • Maintain PQA certification status (provided on the job)
  • Follow all SFI bio-security policies and procedures
  • Exhibit strong teamwork, including working to achieve team goals, embracing new technologies, working on new projects, etc.
  • Be capable of lifting a minimum of 50 lbs. with reasonable accommodation

Additional Duties

  • Demonstrate Schwartz Farms' values of integrity, respect, excellence and adaptability
  • Advocate and engage in SFI's animal welfare policy, including promoting animal well-being, remedying circumstances which impede animal care, and properly reporting instances of mistreatment or abuse
  • Maintain and promote a safe working environment
  • Additional duties may be assigned as they arise
