Job description

Join Our Team as an Anesthesiologist

Our organization is seeking collaborative Anesthesiologists to become part of our team at Riverside University Health System-Medical Center (RUHS-MC), within the Division of Community Partnership.

RUHS-MC is a 439-bed teaching hospital affiliated with a university, featuring over 60 primary and specialty care clinics located in Moreno Valley, Southern California. This prime location offers easy access to Los Angeles, Palm Springs, beautiful beaches, scenic mountains, vast deserts, and six major airports. RUHS-MC is recognized as an ACS-accredited Level 1 Adult Trauma Center, a Top Performer on Key Quality Measures by The Joint Commission, a Primary Stroke Center, and a Center of Excellence for Research.

Practice Overview

The focus of our practice primarily involves adult cases, including:

  • Orthopedics
  • General Surgery
  • Neurosurgery
  • ENT
  • OB/GYN
  • Vascular and Thoracic Procedures
  • Trauma Surgeries

While we do provide care for pediatric patients, the volume is manageable. RUHS serves as a Level 1 adult and Level II pediatric trauma center for Riverside County. Regular regional anesthesia procedures are performed, though expertise in these techniques is not mandatory for applicants, but would be advantageous. The practice also includes a modern outpatient surgery center equipped with 8 operating rooms. Please note that cardiac surgery and transplantation procedures are not conducted at RUHS-MC.

Call Responsibilities

The selected candidate will be responsible for:

  • Three 16-hour in-house overnight calls during weekdays
  • One 24-hour in-house shift on weekends or holidays per month (which can be divided into two 12-hour shifts with another physician)

Two attending physicians will always be present during overnight calls, and responsibilities will be shared equally among faculty members.

Ideal Candidate Profile

The perfect candidate will be a team-oriented physician eager for personal and professional development, as well as passionate about resident education and mentoring medical students. Our practice values perioperative medicine as a fundamental aspect of anesthesiology; thus, our residents receive extensive training in this area. Several faculty members actively participate in national and state committees discussing future practice models, and we encourage the ideal candidate to support these initiatives.
