Job description

Okta enables universal, secure access to technology for every user and organization. The Device Identity and Access team ensures that every endpoint interacting with corporate resources is trusted, healthy, and secure. Our pillar spans four domains: Device Identity, Device Authentication, Device Security Posture, and Endpoint AI Security.

We are hiring a Product Manager to drive our Zero Trust Authentication group. In this role, you will lead the core execution, performance, and deployment strategy for Okta's foundational endpoint products. You will own the operational excellence of Okta Verify, FastPass, and Device Assurance, ensuring that our core passwordless authentication flows and device posture engines remain performant, secure, and incredibly easy for global enterprises to deploy at scale.
This is a critical, high-impact role designed for a highly autonomous product manager. You will take on the tactical execution and smaller strategic investments for our endpoint authenticators, acting as the team's operational anchor so that our senior product leaders can continuously expand our strategic frontiers.

What you will own

You will bridge user experience and deep systems engineering to ensure our core authentication products scale reliably for millions of global users.

  • Core Device Assurance Execution: Own the roadmap for our baseline security posture checks (such as OS version validation, disk encryption, and firewall status). You will manage the execution of our posture policy engine and our first-party EDR/MDM signal integrations.
  • Okta Verify Core Features: You will lead the feature roadmap and runtime capabilities for Okta Verify across iOS, Android, macOS, Windows, and Linux. You will focus on transforming raw device-side signals into secure user experiences, managing the lifecycle of on-device authenticators, and shipping tactical feature enhancements.
  • Frictionless FastPass Adoption: You will drive the enrollment, registration, and adoption feature loops for FastPass, our premier passwordless, phishing-resistant authenticator. You will build zero-touch MDM provisioning paths, streamlined setup flows, and deployment controls that make passwordless authentication frictionless to activate.

A day in the life

Your day is a constant balancing act between core platform execution and immediate customer support. You might start your morning on a call with a strategic customer, taking tactical feedback on a Device Assurance integration and helping them design a phased rollout plan to migrate their users to FastPass. By midday, you are partnering with your engineering leads and software architects, debating the technical trade-offs of a client-side storage upgrade or reviewing app startup latency metrics.

By midday, you shift your focus to execution. You thrive on taking highly ambiguous problem spaces and bringing absolute clarity to the engineering teams. You partner deeply with your engineering leads and architects, debating technical trade-offs and ensuring that project requirements are clearly defined, scoped, and directly tied to delivering concrete solutions for our customers.

In the afternoon, you collaborate with your product peers to ensure that foundational device signals map cleanly to downstream capabilities like Identity Threat Protection or core policy evaluations. You write highly detailed, plain-prose specifications with clear problem statements to guide developer execution. You close the day working with our Go-To-Market and support teams, ensuring they have the technical documentation and tooling needed to diagnose customer issues, resolve endpoint friction, and drive up FastPass activation rates.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with engineering, design, and research teams to define and document user stories and technical use cases that guide product development for core endpoint features.
  • Define and execute the product roadmap, prioritizing technical debt, security hardening, and core platform enhancements alongside customer feature requests.
  • Engage customers to identify friction and technical pain points, use their feedback to inform our roadmap prioritization.
  • Define and communicate clear, technical requirements for the endpoint applications, ensuring engineering teams have unambiguous guidance for platform-level implementation.
  • Track industry trends in client operating systems, security compliance standards, and platform authenticators to ensure Okta's foundational offerings remain highly competitive.
  • Be the subject matter expert for your product area and help enable your counterparts in the core product, Marketing, and tech partnerships teams.

Required

  • 5+ years of Technical Product Management experience in enterprise scale SaaS products, Identity and Access management, Endpoint Security, or comparable relevant experience.
  • Experience building or product managing the feature areas for enterprise platform ecosystems/services.
  • Experience developing, socializing, and driving strategies spanning multiple parts of an organization. Track record of owning and delivering on large strategic projects. You can see the big picture, but deliver on the details.
  • Strong communication (presentation, verbal and written) and collaboration skills. You easily work with customers and colleagues across different functions and backgrounds.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills. You can produce solid action plans from often incomplete, conflicting or ambiguous inputs.
  • BS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent technical degree. You have a proven ability to rationalize and influence low-level technical design decisions, partnering directly with software architects to build secure, performant software for emerging paradigm shifts (such as endpoint AI and agentic workflows).

Preferred:

  • Familiarity with Identity and Access management protocols and products
  • Experience with creating requirements for security focused customers
  • Public speaking experience

Top 3 qualities we are hiring for

  • Founder-level ownership: You do not need an instruction manual, a playbook, or perfectly defined processes to do your job. You thrive in zero-to-one ambiguity, take absolute accountability for your domain's success or failure, and when in doubt, you bias toward action and decide.
  • Decisive action in the dark: You rarely have perfect data or complete requirements. You confidently make high-stakes calls using a mix of telemetry, customer anecdotes, and sharp product intuition. You explicitly name your assumptions, move fast, and revise them in public without ego when new information arrives.
  • Unquestioned influence: You lead without relying on a reporting structure. You naturally align engineering, design, GTM, and the field behind your understanding of the customer. You are the definitive, credible voice of the product in CISO boardrooms and internal executive reviews.
