At Axon, we're on a mission to Protect Life. We're explorers, pursuing society's most critical safety and justice issues with our ecosystem of devices and cloud software. Like our products, we work better together. We connect with candor and care, seeking out diverse perspectives from our customers, communities and each other.
Life at Axon is fast-paced, challenging and meaningful. Here, you'll take ownership and drive real change. Constantly grow as you work hard for a mission that matters at a company where you matter.
Reports To: Engineering Manager
Role
- Design, implement, and maintain automated test suites and CI-integrated test infrastructure across Axon
Device Manager, Axon Device Check Out, and Fleet 3 Dashboard.
- Work across teams with Product, Design, and Engineering to establish a shared quality standard - driving
shift-left adoption, engineer-owned test planning, and automation coverage that scales with feature velocity.
- Focus on execution: set a high technical bar for the team through test-plan reviews, automation code
reviews, and by embedding testability into feature design early in the development cycle.
What You Bring
- 2+ years of industry experience building and maintaining automated test suites for mobile applications
shipped to the Google Play Store and Apple App Store.
- Understand the ins and outs of mobile quality - expected to lead mobile test-plan reviews as well as the
implementation, release validation, and post-release monitoring of automation and regression suites.
- Hands-on experience with mobile UI automation frameworks: Appium, Espresso, XCUITest, or Detox - including
test framework design, page-object patterns, and stable-selector strategy.
- Experience testing React Native applications end-to-end, including native module bridging, cross-platform
test parity, and instrumentation for RN-specific failure modes.
- Fluency with unit and integration testing patterns paired to modern mobile architectures (MVVM, MVI,
Redux/Zustand on RN) and the tradeoffs between unit, integration, and E2E coverage.
- Experience validating REST/JSON API contracts and remote data flows via test tooling (Postman, RestAssured,
mock servers, contract testing).
- Understanding of networking protocols such as TCP, UDP, DHCP, DNS, Server-Sent Events, and WebSockets -
with the ability to debug flaky tests down to the transport layer (Wireshark or Charles a plus).
Nice To Have
- Experience testing SDKs and hardware-integrated flows: Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, Networking, Camera (Photo/Video),
Audio, File Management, and connections to third-party hardware.
- Experience validating video streaming and IoT device connectivity over BLE or Wi-Fi - including test rigs,
device farms, or hardware-in-the-loop automation.
- Experience with CI/CD platforms (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Bitrise, Firebase Test Lab, AWS Device Farm) for
scaling mobile automation.
- Familiarity with test management tools (Zephyr Scale, TestRail) and observability tooling (Datadog, Splunk,
Firebase Crashlytics) for correlating test signals with production quality.
