You will lead a team of engineers for the Prime Video (PV) Android team, with overall responsibility for the Android App's UX and Platform. You surprise customers with an available, effortless, clear, fast, dynamic and delightful experience. Finally, you will work with other Android organizations within Amazon to ensure that we have a robust, well rounded and operationally sustainable infrastructure.
Key job responsibilities
The Prime Video Mobile organization is seeking an engineering leader that will help in building an Android product that will delight customers worldwide. You will lead a team of Software Engineers that will build a personalized Prime Video experience for millions of customers on their most frequently accessed digital screen. Working with other engineering teams and your stakeholders, you will own the roadmap, vision and strategy to enable customers to have a responsive, delightful and intuitive experiences, whenever they interact with Prime Video. You will provide your organization with coaching in design, development, testing, and operations as you design, build and launch new features and experiences.
In this role, you will routinely work with Product Managers, UX Designers, Technical Program Managers, Software Engineers and Software Managers from other teams.
A day in the life
As a leader of mobile applications in Prime Video, you will be responsible for building broader Android strategy and roadmap. As a leader in the Android space, you are responsible for the engineering processes of that organization, and for ensuring that operational burdens don't get too onerous. Additionally, you will work to ensure that our customer facing feature set is delivered fast and at a high level of quality. As a leader, you are responsible for growing leaders internally, hiring the best people for your team, and provide support to your parent organization.
About the team
The Prime Video Mobile Android team is responsible for the Prime Video app on Android phones/tablets and Amazon Fire tablets. We own a mature product that serves millions of customers, and for many is the primary way that interact with Prime Video.
This team is fully based in Seattle, and comprises a mix of newer and more experienced members. As much as working hard, you will also have fun as part of the Android team, welcomed by regular team outings and activities like video game tournaments, laser tag, whirlyball and happy hours.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- 3+ years of engineering team management experience
- 7+ years of working directly within engineering teams experience
- 3+ years of designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- 8+ years of leading the definition and development of multi tier web services experience
- Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations
- Experience partnering with product or program management teams
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy
- Experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills, and make them more effective, product software engineers

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
