Job Title: IT Technician

Location: Cullman, AL (Relocation Not Available)

Salary Range: Up to $25.00/hr

Employment type: 3-Month Contract


Job Summary

We are seeking an IT Technician to support a short-term installation project involving configuration, deployment, and installation of approximately 230 Android tablets across multiple manufacturing locations. This role is ideal for someone with hands-on IT support experience who is comfortable traveling, working in factory environments, and performing both technical and light mechanical installation tasks. A company vehicle, lodging, and gas reimbursement will be provided.


Required Skills & Qualifications

● Proven experience in IT support or as an IT Technician

● Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel

● Associate degree or relevant technical certification/education

● Ability to use hand tools and power tools (screwdrivers, drills, etc.)

● Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills

● Ability to maintain accurate technical documentation

● Comfortable working in manufacturing settings and completing physical tasks

● Must be able to travel to multiple sites for 2–4 weeks at a time


Preferred Skills & Qualifications

● Experience supporting mobile devices or MDM software

● Familiarity with hardware installation in industrial or manufacturing environments

● Knowledge of networking basics and peripheral connections

● Prior experience managing inventory or device tracking

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

● Unbox, power on, and enroll Android tablets into MDM software

● Label and track each device: name, asset number, and serial number in Excel

● Confirm configurations are applied correctly and ensure devices are repackaged and documented

● Maintain device inventory and ship required quantities to other locations

● Deliver tablets to designated factory areas and record device placement

● Install tablets on assembly cells using provided procedures and basic tools

● Route power cables, install USB splitters, and connect badge readers & barcode scanners

● Test tablet functionality according to established procedures

● Ensure proper cable management and secure installations

● Dispose of trash and recycling in designated containers


Physical and Environmental Requirements

This role involves working in a manufacturing environment and requires standing, walking, lifting, and handling equipment. Tasks may include using hand tools and power tools, routing cables, and installing devices at various workstation heights. Noise levels and temperatures may vary by facility. Travel to multiple sites for extended periods is required.
