Serious Game Tester
Location: Huntsville, AL (Hybrid)
Description:
Seeking a highly motivated Serious Game Tester to support the development of serious games and virtual trainers. We use the phrase "serious games" to describe a variety of applications that use gaming technologies or mechanics for a purpose other than strictly entertainment. You will be a key member of an agile scrum development team working closely with fellow developers on the development of these products.
This position is a hybrid role requiring the candidate to be in or relocate to Huntsville, AL. Depending on the project(s) you will be supporting, some or all tasking can be completed remotely. Some projects require testing on hardware that is located on Redstone Arsenal.
Responsibilities and Requirements:
Interact with team members, customers, and Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to develop products utilizing the Unity and Unreal game engines in an Agile Scrum framework.
Contribute creatively to the end-to-end game development process.
Review software requirements and prepare test plans.
Execute various tests (usability, regression, etc.) on the in-development software.
Manage any internal and external test groups (Alpha, Beta, Release Candidate) for the software.
Provide testing reports and issue bug reports to the development team.
Take ownership of his/her work as a highly motivated self-starter.
Possess a demonstrated ability to meet tight deadlines, prioritize workload, manage time efficiently, and work in a team environment
Required Skills:
Some experience (through education or professional) testing entertainment or serious games.
Must have or be eligible to receive a Secret clearance.
Desired Skills:
Experience with the life cycle of design of game development from concept through project completion.
Experience working in a hybrid development environment with remote and on-site team members.
Experience working within an Agile Scrum framework.
Experience with agile project management software, specifically the Atlassian suite (JIRA / Confluence).
Experience with version control software (such as Perforce).
Experience testing Unity and Unreal based products
Experience testing games on any/all of the following platforms: Windows, iOS, Android, Web, VR (primarily HTC Vive and Meta Quest), AR (primarily mobile-based AR).
Experience testing game-based products with hardware-in-the-loop integration.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor's in a technical discipline related to game development and 3 years of related experience
6 years of additional professional experience as a game tester, software test engineer, or related field.
