Laboratory Manager Pathology/Clinical Laboratory

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Laboratory Manager is responsible for the planning, development, expansion, and implementation of objectives for Laboratory Services. The Laboratory Manager oversees daily operations of the pathology and clinical laboratories and supervises staff, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Supervise all laboratory staff.
  • Perform personnel functions for laboratory staff.
  • Oversee daily operations of clinical and pathology laboratory.
  • Maintain laboratory records and procedure manuals.
  • Monitor laboratory performance for compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Write/update lab policies and SOPs.
  • Analyze and implement new tests and equipment acquisitions.
  • Review and troubleshoot quality control and calibration processes.
  • Acquire proficiency testing materials that meet guidelines.
  • Ensure competencies are performed by staff regularly.
  • Manage equipment maintenance schedules and repairs.
  • Facilitate testing for employee exposure to chemicals.
  • Prepare reports for quality meetings.
  • Maintain NYS laboratory licensure for all locations.
  • 30% - 50% of workload serving as a bench technologist processing microbiology, urine cytology, urine FISH, semen analysis and clinical laboratory samples as needed.
