Location: Church Office Building in Salt Lake City 

Department: Materials Management 

Internship Type: Part-time, Paid 

Duration: 12 months 

Report To: Purchasing Systems Supervisor 

Job Description 

Support the purchasing systems team by assisting in the development of Power BI reports and dashboards, Power Apps and their associated reports, performing data validation, and contributing to meaningful insights that influence decision-making. This internship offers hands-on experience with real-world data and reporting tools in a mission-driven organization.

Education / Work Experience 

Recent graduate or currently pursuing a BS/BA degree in business analytics, data science, information systems or related field. Familiar with supply chain management. 

Demonstrated Skills and Abilities 

  • Power BI and Power Query 

  • Microsoft Excel, including formulas and basic VBA 

  • Power Apps and Power Automate (optional) 

  • Understand and communicate data story 

  • Work with minimal oversight while balancing multiple tasks and deadlines 

  • Provide innovative solutions to meet customer needs 

  • Interest in learning how data supports strategic decisions in a faith-based organization 

The Purchasing Data Analytics Intern will work with data from multiple systems to support the integration of structured and unstructured data for reporting and dashboard development. The following are examples of responsibilities: 

  • Assist in building and maintaining Power BI reports and dashboards based on business requirements. 

  • Support data collection, cleaning, and integration from multiple structured and unstructured sources

  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to understand reporting needs and define output requirements. 

  • Conduct ad hoc analysis to uncover trends, patterns, and actionable insights. 

  • Participate in data quality assessments with data engineers to ensure accuracy, completeness, and reliability. 

  • Document data definitions, sources, and reporting processes for internal use. 

  • Assist in building and maintaining Apps built through Power Apps based on business requirements.
