SCIENTIST - ANALYTICAL
Role Summary
This role is responsible for analytical method development, equipment maintenance and repair, instrument procurement and training, competitive analysis, and routine analytical testing. Because this role is expected to perform a large variety of analytical methods a broad knowledge of general analytical techniques, both instrumental and wet chemical methods, is beneficial.
Key Responsibilities
  • Analytical Test Method Development - Responsible for planning, implementing, and completing research projects and laboratory work and other assigned activities leading to new and/or improved analytical techniques and new analytical methods.
  • Perform routine and non-routine analyses and performance tests as requested.
  • Provide input for experimental design of lab-scale studies.
  • Employ analytical chemistry (GC, HPLC, etc.) to assist the development of new products and generation of fundamental knowledge.
  • Provide analytical support for existing customers, manufacturing sites, and business groups.
  • Project Management - Proactively seek understanding of customer needs. Drive analytical projects from inception through completion
  • Technical Communication - Generate, organize, interpret, and report data in support of technical projects and service requests. Communicate and interact with a broad range of internal and external customers.
  • Conducts standardization, calibration, and preventative maintenance of the analytical laboratory equipment in Sharonville.
  • Train Sharonville Technical center resources on new and existing analytical techniques and analytical instruments as requested.
  • Responsible for ensuring compliance with the Responsible Care Management System® including the establishment of policies and procedures, assigning responsibilities and tracking progress.
Competencies
Required:
  • Minimum of a BS in Chemistry with 3 years of relevant analytical experience (academic and/or industrial).
  • Proven verbal and written communications skills, including technical reports.
  • Demonstrated physical manipulative skills needed for general laboratory practices.
  • Successful record of problem solving through analytical and creative thinking skills.
  • Proven quality management system skills
  • Demonstrating a strong belief in continuous improvement.
  • General computer skills - word processing, spreadsheet, graphics, and database.
  • Working in a safe and environmentally correct manner.
  • Demonstrated project management experience including the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Strong interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to build relationships with colleagues at multiple levels of an organization
  • Must be self-motivated with ability to handle, organize and prioritize multiple tasks and be able to perform under pressure to meet deadlines
  • Ability to work both independently and cooperatively in a multidisciplinary environment
  • Ability to travel to Pilot Plant Laboratory and Manufacturing facilities as required (less than 5%)
  • Actively participate in Pilot Chemical safety programs, ensure compliance with safety procedures, and maintain good housekeeping.
Preferred:
  • Candidates with relevant industrial analytical testing lab experience
  • Advanced degree in Analytical Chemistry
  • Experience with surfactants and/or biocides.
  • Experience with GLP or other quality management techniques.
  • Successful experience in analytical test method development, troubleshooting, and training.
