Position Summary
Our client is seeking a hands-on Quality Control Laboratory Manager to lead laboratory operations within a small-batch manufacturing environment. This role will oversee analytical testing, drive continuous improvement initiatives, improve laboratory processes, and develop a strong technical team.
The ideal candidate is a proactive leader who enjoys identifying opportunities, implementing new technologies, and creating more efficient and reliable laboratory practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage daily laboratory operations and ensure accurate, timely analytical testing
- Identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency, accuracy, and data reliability
- Evaluate, recommend, and implement new laboratory instruments, technologies, and testing methods
- Utilize SPC charts and data analysis to monitor trends and validate processes
- Improve laboratory procedures, workflows, and documentation
- Partner with manufacturing and R&D teams to troubleshoot quality and process issues
- Maintain equipment calibration, reliability, and performance
- Train, coach, and develop laboratory team members while building a collaborative culture
- Support quality initiatives, investigations, and continuous improvement efforts
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or related field
- 6+ years of experience in quality control, analytical laboratory operations, or process improvement within manufacturing
- Experience in small-batch manufacturing, specialty chemicals, or similar laboratory environments preferred
- Strong knowledge of analytical instrumentation and laboratory processes
- Proven experience improving methods, workflows, or equipment utilization
- Experience using SPC charts or statistical analysis for process monitoring
- Ability to lead, mentor, and develop a technical team
- Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to improvement
