Position Summary

Our client is seeking a hands-on Quality Control Laboratory Manager to lead laboratory operations within a small-batch manufacturing environment. This role will oversee analytical testing, drive continuous improvement initiatives, improve laboratory processes, and develop a strong technical team.

The ideal candidate is a proactive leader who enjoys identifying opportunities, implementing new technologies, and creating more efficient and reliable laboratory practices.


Key Responsibilities

  • Manage daily laboratory operations and ensure accurate, timely analytical testing
  • Identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency, accuracy, and data reliability
  • Evaluate, recommend, and implement new laboratory instruments, technologies, and testing methods
  • Utilize SPC charts and data analysis to monitor trends and validate processes
  • Improve laboratory procedures, workflows, and documentation
  • Partner with manufacturing and R&D teams to troubleshoot quality and process issues
  • Maintain equipment calibration, reliability, and performance
  • Train, coach, and develop laboratory team members while building a collaborative culture
  • Support quality initiatives, investigations, and continuous improvement efforts


Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or related field
  • 6+ years of experience in quality control, analytical laboratory operations, or process improvement within manufacturing
  • Experience in small-batch manufacturing, specialty chemicals, or similar laboratory environments preferred
  • Strong knowledge of analytical instrumentation and laboratory processes
  • Proven experience improving methods, workflows, or equipment utilization
  • Experience using SPC charts or statistical analysis for process monitoring
  • Ability to lead, mentor, and develop a technical team
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to improvement
