Job Summary:
The White Earth Service Unit (WESU) is seeking a qualified Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) to deliver comprehensive laboratory services at the White Earth Health Center, Naytahwaush, and Pine Point Satellite Clinics. The MLT will play a crucial role in supporting the White Earth Service Unit's mission of providing high-quality, culturally sensitive healthcare to ensure positive health outcomes for all patients.

Duties/Responsibilities:
• Specimen Collection and Processing: Collect, prepare, and handle specimens accurately and efficiently for routine testing and referral.
• Laboratory Testing: Conduct routine and specialized laboratory tests in areas such as microbiology, hematology, chemistry, urinalysis, and serology while ensuring accuracy and reliability.
• Quality Control and Assurance: Perform and monitor quality control procedures, troubleshoot issues, and ensure adherence to laboratory standards.
• Instrument Maintenance: Conduct preventative maintenance, troubleshoot malfunctions, and coordinate external servicing of laboratory instruments as needed.
• Safety and Compliance: Adhere to all laboratory procedures, safety protocols, infection control practices, and regulatory requirements, including blood-borne pathogen policies.
• Proficiency Testing and Improvement Programs: Participate in laboratory proficiency testing and continuous quality improvement initiatives.
• Documentation: Maintain accurate records of test results, quality control data, and laboratory supply inventory.
• Patient Interaction: Provide respectful and professional service to patients across various age groups, including pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric populations.

Required Skills/Abilities:
• Must be able to multi-task, be detail-oriented, be organized and have excellent verbal and communication skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work on a team.
• Excellent communication and time management skills.
• Must be able to successfully complete the AMI Credentialing Process.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite applications
Education & Experience:
• Valid ASCP certification as a Medical Laboratory Technician.
• Minimum of one (1) year of specialized experience in a clinical laboratory setting, including specimen collection, accessioning, analysis, and reporting.
• Current BLS certification required.
• Ability to operate and calibrate analytical instruments, independently conduct tests, and identify and report abnormal results.
• Proficiency in medical terminology, microbiology, chemistry, physiology, and quality assurance practices to ensure accurate test results.

• Must be able to work in a safe manner following all safety rules and regulations. Must work as a team member to improve safety culture and quality.
