Overview

We're seeking a Business Analyst. Part of the overall Analytics Group, the Business Analytics team is responsible for performing descriptive and prescriptive analytics, client reporting and relationships, as well as cross-functional integration.  They analyze a variety of different data to derive insights, identify trends and patterns from model outputs, and provide actionable recommendations. Additionally, they answer client questions and ensure the insights align with business objectives, write and approve proposals and findings, oversee all Analytic deliverables, and help drive the growth of the department. Candidates must reside within a commutable distance of our Detroit (Troy), New York or Chicago office for a hybrid work schedule. 

  • Core Responsibilities: Marketing Science, Ad-hoc Reporting, A/B Testing, Insights & Recommendations, Trend & Seasonality Analysis, Post Campaign Analysis, Advanced Analytics, etc.

  • Primary Tools: Google Suite, Azure Synapse, PowerBI, Nielsen, Circana, Numerator

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Business Analyst is responsible for analyzing business processes, synthesizing data, and providing actionable insights to support business decisions. This role requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to communicate complex findings clearly and concisely. Specifically, the Business Analyst will:

 

  • Partner with Analytics Engineering, Data Science, Strategic Planning, and other functions in the business. 

  • Contribute to the development of the Analytics capability for the business.

  • Work closely with cross-functional agency and client teams to define analytic needs and recommend methodologies, with the ability to execute independently.

  • Collaborate with internal partners to improve workflows and data quality within defined areas.

  • Implement a data visualization process to aid in the data quality checking process.

  • Synthesize data from a variety of sources, including Circana, Nielsen, Numerator, media vendors, customer-specific POS, shopper loyalty databases, consumer survey research, and category management tools, to identify and prioritize business-building opportunities.

  • Assist in the creation of, and own the creation of, client-ready reports with a focus on visual storytelling.

  • Conduct business process analysis and identify areas for improvement.

  • Develop business requirements and specifications for new systems and processes.

  • Facilitate communication between business stakeholders and technical teams to ensure alignment on project goals.

  • Support wider agency initiatives.

SKILLSETS REQUIRED:
  • A Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Data Analytics, Computer Science, or a directly related field.

  • Minimum of 1-5 years of experience working with data; experience in consumer marketing, retail, and CPG industries is a plus.

  • Passion for data and analytics and the value of data-driven decision-making.

  • Ability to tell a visual story that leads to results and decision-making.

  • Detail-oriented with the ability to handle multiple clients and projects simultaneously.

  • Ability to work proactively and efficiently with a very high level of quality.

  • Team player with strong relationship-building, communication, and presentation skills.

  • Knowledge of digital and/or marketing analytics is preferred but not required.

  • Experience working with IRI or Nielsen data is preferred.

  • Strong Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) skills.

  • Experience with Tableau, Power BI, or any similar data visualization tools is a plus.

  • Experience in Python and R is a plus.

  • Basic proficiency in SQL is a must. 

  • Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to develop business requirements and translate them into technical specifications.
