Job description

About the Role:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Staff RHIA to join our team in the Health Care Services industry. As a Staff RHIA, you will be responsible for managing and maintaining patient medical records, credentialing medical staff, release of information of patient records, fulfilling information requests from multiple sources, to include, but not limited to physicians, vendors, internal customers, ensuring their accuracy and completeness. You will also be responsible for analyzing and interpreting patient data to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and standards. Your work will be critical in ensuring the quality of patient care and the success of our organization.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Health Information Management or related field
  • RHIA certification
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in medical record management and compliance
  • Strong knowledge of regulatory requirements and standards related to medical record management
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with electronic health record systems
  • Hospital or ASC experience
  • Responsibilities:
  • Manage and maintain patient medical records, ensuring their accuracy and completeness
  • Analyze and interpret patient data to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and standards
  • Collaborate with healthcare providers to ensure the quality of patient care
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures related to medical record management
  • Train and supervise staff on medical record management and compliance
  • Receives, processes, and ensures that medical staff initial and reappointments are processed accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Assists with other medical staff functions as needed.
  • Receives, processes, and responds to release of patient/health information requests according to State Statute and Hospital Policy.
  • Fulfill any requests from physician offices, outside vendors and other hospital departments regarding information needed, including assignment of DRG's.
  • Complies with accreditation conditions of participation, facility policies and procedures, as well as state and federal laws and guidelines relating to the content, completion, and accuracy of the patient record.
  • Assists with other job functions as needed.

Skills:
As a Staff RHIA, you will need to have strong analytical and problem-solving skills to ensure the accuracy and completeness of patient medical records. You will also need to have excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with healthcare providers and staff. In addition, you will need to have a strong understanding of regulatory requirements and standards related to medical record management. Finally, you will need to be proficient in the use of electronic health record systems and other relevant software applications.
