Job Title

Team Member Relations Consultant Senior (260002MM)

Overview

Under the direction of the VP of People, the Senior Team Member Relations Consultant will serve as an experienced practitioner to implement TGH’s culture of positive team member relations. The Senior Team Member Relations Consultant serves as a trusted partner by providing guidance and employee relations subject matter expertise to support leaders and team members in promoting and fostering a fair, positive, and collaborative working environment in a manner that ensures the fair, equitable, and consistent treatment of team members across the organization. As a Senior Member in the Team Member Relations (TMR) Center of Excellence (COE) within People and Talent, the Senior Team Member Relations Consultant will collaborate with other members in TMR to execute the strategy, policies, processes, and programs to help support the Human Resources Business Partner (HRBP) Team and business leaders in all areas of labor and employee relations. This role is responsible for responding to escalated concerns, including complex investigations in an effort to reduce risk and contribute to productivity. Key elements of this role are to execute positive team member relations strategy, partner closely with the Director of Team Member Relations, HRBP team, business leaders, and team members and provide operational oversight of the TMR team.

Essential Functions
  • Participates in labor relations matters, providing advice and counsel to business leaders including advising on team member coaching, grievance and dispute resolutions, labor relations best practices, disciplinary actions, and terminations to mitigate risk and mitigate third party intervention.
  • Leads the onboarding process for new TMR team members. Under the direction of the Direction of the TMR Director, assists in training and developing TMR team members in delivering a positive team member relations experience consistent with TGH’s values.
  • Collaborates with business leaders and People and Talent team, to propose and implement positive team member relations strategic initiatives that support TGH’s culture to align with its vision and values.
  • In collaboration with the Director of TMR, recommends and assists with writing, revising, communicating, and interpreting People and Talent policies and procedures.
  • Leads policy committee and provides guidance and operational oversight on cases managed by TMR consultants.
  • Conducts and manages the effective and timely investigations under resolution of complex of highly sensitive team member relations matters by meeting service level agreements, including fact-gathering, witness interviews, document and evidentiary review data, root-cause analyses, reviewing and writing investigation reports.
  • Develop and provide training for business leaders in best TMR practices and strategies.
  • Provides HRBP and business leaders with interpretation and guidance regarding People and Talent policies, legal, and compliance matters to ensure fair and consistent application. Ensures the mitigation of risk, consistent and equitable application of policies and procedures by counseling and advising to specific employment laws including federal and state labor laws.
  • Takes on stretch assignments and more challenging projects that impact TGH as it relates to employee and labor relations matters.
  • Serves as credible, trusted partner to guide and influence leaders by demonstrating best practice, technical, functional, and business expertise in employee relations matters.
  • Develops and delivers training initiatives to improve business leaders’ knowledge, skills, and abilities, related to positive employee relations. Utilizes data and evidence-based approaches when advising and consulting business leaders to ensure outcomes to facilitate compliance, align them with TGH, values and business objectives.
  • Utilizes best practices and deep knowledge in collaborating with HRBPs and other key stakeholders to identify and ensure the implementation of timely and appropriate solutions based on well-supported findings and conclusions.
  • Reviews assigned TMR matters and applies learned and root-cause analyses to identify and recommend effective, sustainable, and appropriate business solutions to TMR matters.
  • Track and analyze data identified through external resources along with internal case management system to identify trends and recommend new or enhanced process improvements to TMR COE and business operations.
  • Continuously maintaining TMR case management system, updating playbook to include TMR processes and procedures.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Human Resources, or other related field.
  • Five years progressive experience in Human Resources/Employee Relations or a Juris Doctor degree in place of experience.
Technical Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Extensive knowledge of state, federal, and local employment and labor laws.
  • Knowledge of ADA and leave of absence.
  • Advanced knowledge of workplace compliance investigations, best practices, labor relations, union avoidance, and EEO compliance.
  • Data analysis skills.
  • Knowledge of investigations.

  • Prior experience supporting diverse client groups within complex organization and successfully interacting with business partners to influence, coach and problem-solve.
  • Experience developing and maintaining collaborative working relationships throughout all levels within a matrixed organization.
