Job description

Job Title Head of Industry and Government Affairs USA External Job Title: Head of Industry and Government Affairs USA Position type: Full-time, permanent Location: United States โ€“ Washington DC Job family: Industry and Government Affairs

About Your Business Area/Department: Amadeus IT Group is a Spanish-headquartered travel technology company, listed on the Spanish stock exchange and headquartered in Madrid. It provides the technology that connects the travel ecosystem โ€” distribution and booking platforms for airlines, hotels, travel agencies and other travel providers, plus IT solutions such as passenger service, departure control and hospitality systems. Operating globally across airlines, airports, hotels, rail and travel sellers, its technology supports a large share of the world's travel bookings and traveler journeys every year.

Amadeus' Industry and Government Affairs team anticipates, shapes and responds to the regulatory, policy and institutional developments that affect our business. Working hand in hand with Business Units, Legal, Corporate Strategy and Corporate Communications, the team represents Amadeus with governments, regulators, trade associations, diplomatic services and industry coalitions around the world.

In the United States, one of our most strategically important markets, the team protects Amadeus' market access and competitive position, reduces regulatory uncertainty and turns institutional intelligence into commercial advantage.

Summary of the role

As Head of Industry and Government Affairs USA, you will define and execute Amadeus' US industry, regulatory and government affairs strategy. You will own senior external engagement with institutional decision makers, trade associations, Congressional and Senate stakeholders, diplomatic services and relevant US public bodies, and you will drive internal alignment on Amadeus' positions across Business Units, Legal, Corporate Strategy and Corporate Communications.

This is a senior, high-visibility role with genuine ownership. You will set the US advocacy roadmap, ensure there are no surprises on political and regulatory developments, convert intelligence into recommendations for executive decision makers, and strengthen Amadeus' reputation and influence across the US institutional ecosystem, while supporting concrete business development opportunities.

In this role youโ€™ll:
  • Own and lead the US industry and regulatory affairs strategy, including the annual advocacy roadmap, stakeholder mapping and engagement plans.
  • Anticipate, assess and raise the regulatory, political and geopolitical developments that affect Amadeus' US business, competitive position and market access.
  • Lead senior-level engagement with US institutional stakeholders, trade associations, diplomatic services, government contacts, chambers of commerce and external advisers.
  • Drive executive alignment on Amadeus positions, advocacy messages and response strategies together with Business Units, Legal, Corporate Strategy and Corporate Communications.
  • Lead cross-functional working groups and transversal initiatives covering US regulatory priorities, strategic industry issues and business development opportunities.
  • Represent Amadeus externally in selected senior forums, conferences and institutional meetings to strengthen our visibility, credibility and influence.
  • Translate regulatory and institutional intelligence into business impact, from risk mitigation to opportunity identification in support of US growth objectives.
  • Measure and report outcomes against engagement plans, policy objectives, market access priorities and business development contribution.
About the ideal candidate

A university degree in Economics, Business, Law, International Relations, Public Policy or a related field. Equivalent senior professional experience is equally welcome. A minimum of 15 to 20 years of experience in government affairs, public policy, regulatory affairs, industry affairs or strategic stakeholder management. A proven track record leading complex advocacy strategies in highly regulated environments, with direct exposure to senior government, industry and corporate decision makers. Documented results in relationship building and influencing at institutional, public policy, government or trade association level, including the coordination of external advisers, coalitions and advocacy partners. Sound knowledge of the US political, regulatory and institutional landscape and how it affects technology, travel, digital services and market access. Strong understanding of the geopolitical trends shaping EU-US relations, trade, digital policy, AI, data, competition and travel technology. Excellent executive presence: senior stakeholder influence, negotiation and coalition-building, and confident presentation to institutional and internal audiences. Strategic and geopolitical thinking, with the ability to connect regulatory developments to business implications, financial exposure and growth opportunities. Sound judgement, discretion and maturity in handling sensitive political, regulatory and reputational issues. Full professional proficiency in English. Spanish or other languages relevant to inter-national stakeholder engagement are a plus.
